Try a standard Probiotic first (any basic brand) and it should help some.

I had similar issues which landed me in a hospital and caused my stomach not to be able to get B-12 from my food, which led to other issues (and I am only in my mid 30s)- Probiotics helped a bit but I had to experiment to find the right ones.
Turns out I had a Candita (spelling?) yeast infection- Found some probiotics used to treat the yeast and six mionths later I am good as new.

Yeh with the wheat, try eliminating all wheat and see if that helps. If it doesn't try eliminating all dairy. Lactose intolerance can cause bloating and gas.

If you don't want to eliminate all dairy, try a switch to goat's milk and cheese rather than cow's. Some who can't tolerate cow's milk products can tolerate goat's milk.

For the gas itself, add a little grated fresh ginger root to what you're eating. It will help blast the gas right out of your system faster. :)

In an emergency one quarter teaspoon bicarb of soda like Arm & Hammer in half a glass of water should neutralize it.

Otherwise, change up your diet. At least temporarily, something is irritating the situation. Most likely culprits are what people have already stated, plus sugar and meat. Yes, I realize I have covered most foods. Think about what things break down into as you digest them.

You need to stimulate your bowels, but not too much. Best way is a warm bath, you will fart like mad but it will empty you of wind. Also the warm water helps the air molecules in your bowel become slightpy more active making it expel. I know this as i have crohns and suffer from trapped wind a lot.

Go wheat free for 2 weeks, stay away from all wheat products for two weeks. GMO puffed my belly constantly......try, if no help, go back to wheat. My wife is a genius.

You need to get a simple blood test for a bacteria known as H pylori. It is treated with antbiotics. Search it and you will see how dangerous this bacteria can be, but what you describe is one of the symptoms.

It also could be your gall bladder going bad, or just gastritis.

adapt your diet, and see what works for you. but if it's a sudden condition...
