So she called in sick to work and just slept all day. The next day she decided to try and go to work. Barely into her shift, her head started PUNDING. She said it was the worst pain ever. Everytime she tried to talk, she threw up. That's how bad her head hurt. So her work called an ambulance and she went to the hospital. Quoting: *Heisenberg* She has now been there since wednesday. They say she has a bad case of West Nile. She still hasn't really spoke, because she still throws up when she tries to talk. They basically have kept her drugged up on pain meds so that she can relax. So she has been sleeping most of the time. They say she will most likely be in the hospital for about a month. It's just crazy, she is a 27 yr old healthy woman. Never really had any medical issues. Yet this still hit her sooo hard. The point of this story is to make sure you all take West Nile seriously. It's no joke. Like I said she is a healthy 27 yr old. Not an immune system compramised 80 yr old. Be careful, avoid mosquitos. Don't risk it. Also prayers for my cousin would be appreciated. Prayers up! Yeah it's bad juju for sure... I just went to a funeral a week ago for a local lady that died from it (3 or 4 days after getting sick). I believe that is one of the bad problems with it, that a whole lot of people get it, never does a thing, then they get bit by a mosquito and it eventually gets to someone it is going to hammer....spreads all over because of that. Not real sure of the immunology of it and if you can get it once with none or little reaction and have some immunity after or what. Either way, I know it gets in an area and once it does, it's hard to get out because if there are 1,000 people who report being sick with it?...there are 50,000 people that have it and don't know it...or more. So far I saw a map the other day and Florida hasn't been hit so bad...doubt that's for lack of mosquitos...the mosquitos down here are like the flying monkeys from the wizard of Oz...maybe some of the other crazyass bugs we got eat em...we get some here I'm pretty sure are undiscovered species...lol.... We also have bats, plenty of em...and bats kick ass on mosquitos...I seem to remember some new odd disease knocking out a shitload of bats..,maybe there's a connection. We always have a lot of misquitos around here. I live in the north valley of california, lots of farmland. Which means lots of standing water, which means lots of mosquitos. I usually hear of a couple cases in my county every year. It seems like this year has def. been worse. |
