22nd actually. At least where I live. An object of that size, a week before its final destination, cannot be seen in the sky, yet.

Well, asteroids are not stars, you know? you wouldn't see it until it had entered in our orbit, when it would ignite and burn just as we had seen on the previous videos.

Possible? Yes, pretty much. Would the govt let us know? Less likely. Easy to say, though, that if sucha thing happened, we'd have just a few secs left before it hit the earth's surface - wouldn't be as we've seen in hollywod movies =/
