Taiwanese ship near disputed isles: Japan coast guard

A protest ship from Taiwan joined around a dozen Chinese vessels in waters near Japan-administered islands Friday as a territorial row simmered.

The Taiwan-registered ship was spotted 44 kilometers off Uotsurijima, the largest island in a group known as Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China.

Japan controls the islands though China and Taiwan also claim ownership.

Re: Japan Coast Guard: Taiwanese and Chinese ships crowd waters near the Japanese-controlled Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea
China has reportedly sent two navy frigates to waters near the disputed islands, the first time for Beijing to send full-fledged warships to the area. The move followed the Japanese self-defence forces’ deployment of warships near the islands.

The two countries’ warships reportedly stay more than 100 kilometres away from each other. But they would still be able to strike at each other any time with their guided missiles. As such, an armed clash could occur, even if only by accident.

Around the islands, 16 Chinese surveillance vessels and 50 Japanese patrol boats, which are equipped with 40 mm machine guns, are also facing off against each other. China reportedly plans to send more surveillance vessels to the area to protect hundreds of Chinese fishing boats operating in waters off the islands.

The maritime confrontation is expected to continue for some time as China is intent on highlighting its dispute with Japan over the islands to invalidate Japan’s claim that there is no dispute regarding them. [link to www.asianewsnet.net]

Japan, U.S. joint drill to defend remote islands opens to media
GUAM, Sept. 22, Kyodo

Media organizations observed a joint drill Saturday of Japan's Ground Self-Defense Force and the U.S. Marine Corps on the western Pacific island of Guam, aimed at strengthening their ability to defend remote islands from foreign assault.

The drill was conducted amid mounting tensions between Japan and China over a Japanese-controlled islet group in the East China Sea claimed by China and Taiwan. The island group is known as the Senkakus in Japan, Diaoyu in China and Tiaoyutai in Taiwan.

In the drill, aimed at regaining control of an island captured by foreign forces, the Japanese and U.S. troops were seen leaving small boats to land on the northern shore of Guam. After landing, the GSDF troops advanced with rifles to "retake" the island.

The GSDF said the two cou..

Taiwan, China ships crowd sea near Senkaku Islands
NAHA, Japan, Sept. 22, Kyodo

Taiwanese and Chinese ships crowded waters Friday near the Japanese-controlled Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea, the Japan Coast Guard said, amid continued disputes over sovereignty of the uninhabited islands China and Taiwan also claim.

The coast guard said it spotted a ship with Taiwanese activists aboard sailing in the contiguous zone outside Japanese territorial waters near the Senkakus, while Chinese surveillance boats also entered the zone.

The Taiwanese activists' ship left the waters in the morning but the coast guard also found a Taiwanese patrol vessel was headed in the contiguous zone around 8:20 p.m. for Uotsuri Island, the largest of the five main islets. The patrol ship left the zone later.

Four Chinese fisheries patrol ships remained in the contiguous zone as of 9 p.m., according to the 11th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters based in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture.

To be honest, the Taiwanese people don't really give a fuck about that island. It's mostly the media and the stupid government.

When we see the Chinese rioting over the ownership of that island, smashing shops and cars and looting and all that shit, we're just like what-the-fuck?

I'm an American in Japan.
You should know that Japan doesn't have a military.
China is having a leadership change so this is a little Chineses government distraction. All countries can share this island and its waters.
China is almost entirely dependent on U.S. and Japanese business.
If the U.S. and Japan were to stop business, the Chinese economy would collapse.
China would launch nukes or have NK do it. U.S. would retaliate.
It would be the end of the world including the Canadian warmongering piece of shit in this thread who wants innocent children to die because he's lonely and psychotic.

if an incident leads to a broader war, could Japanese military withstand the Chinese, or USA should come to save Japan from China? Let alone North Korea that may use the momentum to attack the South or even directly Japan by missiles. How far is USA ready to go to protect its interests and allies in the Far East? Will USA for example strike continental Chinese military objects? Will the war be restricted to only conventional means?

You are just talking bullshit out of your ass.

If Japan doesn't care that island much, then hand it over to China then. Or repeal the stupid move of ' nationalising the island' . Problem solved. Otherwise. It means not only Japanese government care, but the of Ernest wants to sit up big distraction on its citizens away from Fukushima failure, collapsing Japanese economy and the coming hyperinflation caused by the QE of Bank of Japan.

You are talking shit about China has to rely on Japan, China is biggest creditor of Japanese debt, the biggest market for Japan to sell its goods, the biggest source of tourists and international shoppers.. Japan does not stand a chance for decoupling from China and the rest of Asia. And Japan is indeed violenting the its peace constitution by making aggressive and illegal moves from dispute islands. Tell that to South Korea and Russia, they know exactly the same how did Japan has stolen a lot of islands from its neighbour.

Japan's general election is coming up next month, and you wonder why it's leaders want to suddenly change the status quo of those islands which have rarely been touched on for years.

You really think China and Russia are not in the same page on this issue and they would kindly let the US get away with this just on a simple proxy war. Did you know Russian bombers have flying around Japan coastline 2 days ago to warn Japan's latest aggression on dispute islands.

Do you really think Iran would not be able to get nuclear bomb just before the US unleash attack on Euroasia? If US can fight on China, Russia, Iran at the same time. Welcome to try. All those Hollywood garbage of making US military look like unbeatable could be finally put in rest once it for all.
