Thats why i cancelled cable and drive a $1200 dollar car. So i can send my kids to private school where the food is organic and they don't let the kids drink the tap water.

Good for you. My wife and I have decided we're going to do whatever it takes to keep our (future) kids out of public schools. Whether it's private or homeschooling, I'm not sure but no public schools = no choice.

Is it really healthier than school lunches? I remember hearing that in prison the food was made out of soy products (similar to how Jack in the Box tacos are made out of soy), which is essentially poison because most soy produced in US is GMO, which is pure poison.

It is obvious that prison meals are healthier. At the indoctrination centers (aka schools) TPTB want to get you dumbed down to the point of obedient slave. They want young bodies getting sick so they can fill them up with Big Pharma poison.

In the slave factories of the Casino Gulag (aka prisons) they need you to be healthy so you can work 15 hour days for $0.25/hr.

You are so right. I am in a public high school daily.
I would never want my kids there. many other staff agree.

How to test ANY school: forget open houses, tours, etc.

Ask to be in the cafeteria when the students are eating.
In 5 minutes you will know if you want your child to be around the behavior you will see.

Homeschooling may be the best.

Changing school menus can be a hard thing to swallow.

Generally, over the next few years school lunches will have fewer calories, less salt, less fat, more whole grains and more fruits and vegetables, particularly the green, leafy kind.

It is sickening that the prisonsers get better lunches than the children --- However, my step-son and step-daughter-in-law complained when the pre-school their kids attended were having apples slices as snacks for the kids. They said the kids didn't like them and they petitioned the school along with other ignorant parents to subsititue fruity roll-ups and other sugary items for the healthy items the school was trying to serve.

Schools should server healthy meals but I also agree with the parent who said he dropped cable and drove an inexpensive used car to send his kids to private schools. It all comes down to supply and demand. If the parents want goodies for themselves, then the kids get shafted (at home and school) because the money goes to the parents enjoyment. If the parents thought of the kids they would either cut back and on luxuries and sent a healthy bagged lunch to school, lobby the schools for healthy lunches or best of all - send their kids to private schools. Then the public schools would lose student head count, the crappy union teachers would lose their jobs and the public's demand for proper education and treatment of the kids would win out.

Same here. I refuse to let my child eat the crap they're serving in the cafeteria.

Ditto. I'm pretty sure anything I pack at home will be better than the crud served at school. It may take some extra work, but in my mind it is very much worth it.

I am pretty sure this is the whole reason the FLOTUS has been crusading to change the way lunch is handled in schools, and how much of it is being dictated by the food industry to ill results.

Most dudes who get out of prison are in great physical condition. Most dudes outside of prison are not in very good physical condition, primarily due to eating too much, and unhealthy diets, lack of exercise.

Since she got involved, the school lunches are much worse than they were.

I've heard all the stuff about soy, especially how it's bad for guys. Well, I drink [not a lot, basically just in tea,coffee,and occasionally cereal] soy 'milk', have for several years now. I never have milk or cream because I'm lactose intolerant. And I've never felt better. I get zero stomach problems, digestive problems, and never constipated, no acid reflux, etc., And my weight is excellent. Other than that I eat pretty much what I want, although I generally dislike sugary stuff. I do drink alcohol regularly, including beer and hard liquor, but do not binge and am not an alcoholic.

Honestly, if you eat a balanced diet, don't take in more calories than you need, avoid if possible GMO related products [try and avoid prepared food, especially take-out and fast food], you'll be fine. If there's a particular product you need to avoid like sugar, high fructose corn syrup, salt, dairy, wheat, than do your best to avoid it, but all things in moderation is the key.

School meals should meet the USDA nutrition standards as well as provide sufficient choices, including new foods and food prepared in new ways, to meet the taste and cultural preferences of diverse student populations.

As part of a grand jury, we had to inspect the county jail. We knocked on the door unannounced and they made us wait about half an hour. It was around dinner time when we walked into the kitchen. I gave the food a passing grade. Not great but not all that bad.

We walked into some sort of a holding area with a lot of prisoners behind bars in a large room. Most were hispanic. One guy looked like he was the size of a volkswagon beetle. Another guy was dressed in a suit and kept his back to us the entire time. It was interesting......
