Romney Makes Good On Promise - Releases 20 yrs. of tax returns!
Romney made good on his pledge to release his tax returns from 2011 before the election, and went a step further than was previously anticipated in releasing a certified summary of his tax returns over a two-decade period preceding 2010.

You can see them here: [link to www.mittromney.com]

The Republican's campaign said Romney paid more than $1.9 million in taxes on income of about $13.7 million. That amounts to a 14.1 percent effective tax rate; the tax level is lower because most of the Romneys' income comes from investment, which is taxed at a lower rate than employment income.

Mitt and Ann Romney also donated about $4 million -- about 30 percent of their income -- to charity in 2011, though they only claimed a deduction of about $2.25 million from those donations, according to the campaign.

That means the Romneys voluntarily paid a higher tax rate than they were legally required, which the campaign said they did in order to stay consistent with Romney's pledge to never play less than a 13 percent tax rate.

President Barack Obama and an array of Democrats have launched personal attacks on Romney, looking to turn him into the most prominent example of how wealthy Americans are able to use tax deductions and complex financial instruments to end up paying a lower effective tax rate than most Americans.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid -- a Democrat from Nevada, where Romney is coincidentally campaigning today -- went far further than that in making a repeated public allegation earlier this year that an anonymous source had told him that there were years in which Romney paid no taxes.

Throughout the summer, Democrats pummeled Romney over the issue of taxes as the Republican doggedly refused to release more than the 2010 and 2011 returns. (Last year's returns were delayed after the Romneys requested an extension on their filing.) Those attacks played a large role in negatively defining Romney, especially in swing states.

But wait...! There's more...!

He also took a pass on his $135K governor salary and did the job for no money.

[link to www.bizjournals.com]

When he took the job, Romney said he would accept the offered salary of $250,000 a year only if the Olympics made a profit. When it did, he turned his salary over to charity. In addition, he contributed $1 million to the games.

obviously, romney isn't the big bad guy obama would like you to believe he is.

Correction: he did NOT release twenty years of tax returns. He only released 2011 and 2010. I just saw him on TV saying that he refuses to release any more.

Wonder why?

Mr. Romney could not handled this matter in a more self destructive manner.

His wishy washiness makes Ross Perots campaign seem like a paragon of foresight, stability and deliberateness.

I can only conclude that his decision to manage this matter and his campaign in such a counter productive and counter intuitive fashion is intentional. He now appears as unelectable to his wiser staffers and as untrustworthy to most independents. Nobody is this stupid - it is impossible to be this disconnected from the basic fundamentals of public persuasion. Romney is not some Rush listening child minded dolt.
This "campaign suicide" must be intentional.

2009 was the IRS tax amnesty year. Did he release those? You say '20 years' of tax returns, but there's no mention of anything before the years he was running for President.

Fuck Romney and Obama.

I'm married with five kids... I have to pay 33% in taxes...

Between ss,med, and tax I pay 50k per year!!!

And sadly, I know where it goes. To failed, unconstitutional gov agencies and military expenses for conflicts which are undeclared as wars by congress (again,,unconstitutionally) and predicated on bullshit lies.

I smell revolution, and my ancestors were there, gave their horses, children and crops freely to the same cause - tyranny... Which is in unerring abundance today.

Ever wonder why Jefferson said there should be a revolutoin every 25 years? And why its taken almost 300?

It seems Romney contributes heavily to his Mormon Church - that's where a large chunk of his donations go. I don't think Obama gives millions to any church, I don't see how that makes him uncharitable. Most people don't give 30% of their income to any church, but give to food banks, homeless shelters, etc.

How much of that is from foreign holdings? Rich Americans evaded taxes by hiding foreign holdings. We may never know...the IRS established a special tax amnesty program, which allowed those who voluntarily turned themselves in to remain anonymous and pay limited penalties.

More like chaos. After whatever "shakeout" there was, who would be in charge? Which pretend New Constitutional Convention will be recognized? What will the various state governments do? Don't you realize that in such a "civil war," the current actors, whether behind the scenes or in front of the camera are going to want to reposition themselves to get back in power? Or that those new to power in such a "successful civil war" won't succumb to the same temptations? Oh, yeah, and all the dead people. And the inevitable overrunning and destruction of all American military bases in the Middle East. And so on and so forth.

Chaos. Destruction. Evil. Death. Suffering. Despair.

That's what you are saying when you so blithely write, "civil war."
