Im afraid its only the beginning. For those that survive the coming collapse will be rounded up and thrown into govt camps (FEMA camps) and work for handouts.

The price of food is going up.. but food stamps isn't the reason. Inflation is the reason.. Other economic factors such as just how bountiful the harvest was.. the cost of feeding the cow.. ect...

Sure the handouts have to be reduced, but not before jobs come back.. and that won't happen until after the next big war, when everything will need to be rebuilt.

People just need to learn to eat less.

In my little town a quick run into the local grocery will give you sticker shock. If we don't want to spend $60.00 for a spaghetti dinner we drive over to the next biggest town. We were told straight up that most of the people who shop there are on food stamps and that is how they are able to get away with keeping their prices so high, that came from the people who work there. An example is a jar of Hellmans's Mayo costs $3.99 in town but here it $7.99.

i just bought some t-bone for 4 $/lb, some pork chops for 1 $/lb, lobster tails at 3 $/4 oz, and some beef rib eye for 4 $/lb.

Sure it is.even if they continue to get food stamps as prices go up they will get less and less so they will have to start watching what they buy just like the ones using money.

I honestly believe its food stamps keeping the country going now.
If not for FS food sales would be way down,food suppliers would be losing sales,workers would be cut in all food sectors from the stock boys to the truck unloaders to the farm worker.
Can you imagine the food lines and soup kitchens if there were no food stamps.

Me and hubby have supported 3 family units at once

1-main family...2 daughters

2-hubbys son..Child support for 1 kid from colorado $1300 month.

3-Daughters children-grangkids..dead beat fathers

All our savings are gone,IRS knocking on the door,Filed BR 2 years ago and paying into trustee account for another 3 years.

We have never taken any public dole!
I wish we could but hubby still makes over their stupid limit.

with all the QE to eternity , soon to keep food prices at reasonable level , the gov will have no choice but to secretly subsidize food producing companies so that they won't raise their prices and keep the little people from going apes in the streets.

High food prices relate to the high petroleum prices. It takes oil to can/prepare the food, it takes oil to make the chemicals for fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, it takes oil to run the farm machines, it takes oil to ship the food to the cannery, oil to package the food (consider how much plastic is on the store shelves), oil to ship the food from cannery to stores...

As the price of oil goes up, the price to produce and bring food to the store shelves goes up.

We are also being hit by the futures of grains and other foods due to the droughts, floods and other nasty things that have hit the corn/wheat belt over the past few years.

California, which produces 55% of the food America has, is also suffering from more stringent 'anti-illegal' laws. Back when I first moved here 'illegals' would come across the boarder and live in farm settlements, do the harvest and take their dollar back to Mexico. Food was cheap. Today Farmers can't tap into that cheap labor and have to pay more upfront for workers, thus that extra cost is sent forward to the consumer at the store.

There are several other factors, such as the devaluation of the dollar and our in the process of 'recovery' of a depression. Fluctuations with the value of a dollar is going to worsen before it gets better.
