I work a 80 hr week, so my employees can work and get paid for working a 40+hr week. Sure, I need to work harder and pay more in taxes? | |

Then they decided to try and Unionize, and then demanded higher pay. At that point, i closed the business. Started a new one with just me. Their greed cost them everything, as far as i know, almost 2/3 of them are still out of work, and it's been 18 months since I closed the doors. I make more money now than I used to, and I only work 60 hours a week. Several of them, including the two that started the unionization have come to me to ask for work... It was no small satisfaction to tell them to go ask their union for a job. Right before I told them to get the fuck off my property. Kill the business OP. It's time for Atlas to Shrug. |

What I earn goes back into my business, to first pay my employees, and the rest to build the business. Marketing, equipment, office..etc.... So..you don't eat or have possessions? Something of what you earn has to be going to yourself for food and necessities. It must be fairly decent or you would say screw the business and get a job that lets you live better. That said, I agree with you on everything that has been said. But I find it hard to believe you don't spend any of the money your business makes on food and such. Do you have any money left over to put away for yourself down the road after you have gotten your living expenses taken care of? |

The whole "I, me, I work for me and only me; won't help the less fortunate" mentality sickens me. So the ninja has my vote. Don't care about the Atlas Shrugged working for me and only me mentality. I'm glad part of my taxes go to help the less fortunate even if there are some who exploit it. |

Hey don't try to explain to these ungrateful workers with benefits. They have the life and we sacrifice everything so they can. Small businesses are being squeezed to the core. My advice is to keep those that understand that without your hard work they will not have a job and fire those that are ungrateful. |

Sure, I need to work harder and pay more in taxes? This is a broad generalisation but holds true to most businesses. What most people here fail to realise, is that it takes an incredibly amount of hard work. Most of the business owners who take it "easy" and collect the "big dollars" have usually killed themselves for several years starting the business, and they deserve to sit back and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Most employees are like a seasonal fruit picker who comes to a farm and is jealous of the farmer for taking all the profits or taking it easy when he's the one doing all the work picking the fruit. He fails to realise that the farmer has worked years of back breaking work to get to a point where there can be a harvest. Anyone who has not started a business has no understanding of the pressures and amount of work involved. It is orders of magnitude more difficult than any job anywhere in the world being an an employee. "Oh but I work the longest hours, under the worst conditions, for the worst company, for the worst pay etc etc ..." Trust me any job you can imagine is orders of magnitude easier than starting a business. Before you all jump up and down Yes there are owners and managers who got an easy ride and who exploit the system but they are not the majority. Most people don't have the courage or stupidity to start their own business and are jealous of those who do become successful. |

Sure, I need to work harder and pay more in taxes? What are you talking about? I wouldn't be surprised, but from what I know the only cost increase your small business should see is Obamacare stuff... he's not raising taxes, and has not raised taxes. And he certainly hasn't been telling anyone to "work harder, pay more taxes," unless of course you are a billionjaire skating by on capital gains. Do you turn more than a $250,000 dollar profit with your business? It doesn't seem like it if you're reinvesting your own salary. There's also PLENTY of small business tax deductions -- get thee to a good accountant. Stop blaming the president for everything. The Bush-era rates are still the rates in place, all this tax doom is total BS. I am sick of people complaining about these vaporware taxes. More likely, you are not running your business very well and would rather blame someone else. Also its pretty ugly that you are complaining that as an entrepreneur who owns a business you work more hours than your employees. That's called... NORMAL! Don't fucking start a business if you aren't planning on working all day everyday for a few years at least. Anyway, this has almost nothing to do with Obama. Yeah, he's in the pocket of the global financiers and doesn't care about small businesses... but uh, what, you think Romney does?! The only candidate who is going to do anything to give you relief is Gary Johnson. I tread where even demons fear; I go where eagles dare. |

Sure, I need to work harder and pay more in taxes? My guess is you work for someone else or you're a liar and/or stupid. You could not have built up a business knowing all that is involved and have that attitude? Maybe its due to all the dealings with government? Or did you inherit the business? Most business owners are not "greedy, ungrateful, self-centered bastards", but a lot of employees are. Have you employed any staff? Employees don't care about the company or most of their fellow workmates and only worry about their own paycheck. Most employers worry about there staff and want whats best for them, like being a parent. You sound like some disgruntled employee who has worked for some soulless large corporation and dealt with arsehat middle management. Have you ever had to fire someone? Let me know of a single business owner who enjoys doing that. I have failed to meet one. In tough times most business owners will do whatever it takes to keep from having to fire there staff, only letting people go when realising if the business goes under everyone loses there job. The OP says he puts most of the money back into the business, as most good business owners do, why is he "greedy, ungrateful, self-centered bastards" That will create more jobs, an is beneficial for the community. Complaining about regulations, taxs and corruption is a natural thing to do as its bad for everyone except those sucking at the governments teat. It destroys community and the only person who sounds "greedy, ungrateful, self-centered bastards" is you. |
