It was started by the dudes who killed Jesus to emphasize that they will kill a Messiah every time they're dissatisfied with the scheme of things. In Golgotha We Trust  ALL-ENCOMPASSING-RULERSo Jesus was a real person who got killed? Jesus is a real soul who has been reincarnated several times to be murdered by his own inner-circle, yes. Jesus was not the first Messiah, nor the last.
