Costco is nice. Allot of MSG in the foods though. Very hard to choose the right items without it having some garbage in it.

Yep, this morning I popped by a local Food Lion here in VA to do some food shopping and was amazed by the price increases -- most of which were within the last week. Price jumps ranged anywhere from $1.00 to $4.00 -- with the highest jumps in dairy items...

If you need to make milk go farther add one cup water to every 4 cups of WHOLE milk. You can't taste the difference but it adds up. Yes, there is a little less nutrition but if you have milk guzzlers who don't really need the extra nutrition this will extend the trips to the store for more milk.

Leech from the state. All will come down at one point. In the meantime, start to work on the fields and produce your own stuff.

Don't forget the guns, metals, and to stock on food.

Just my advice.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10128444

sound advice. big sack of pinto beans, sack of jasmine rice, #10 cans of whole powdered eggs and potato flakes are a good start. Grow some chard, spinach, okra, long beans, tomatoes, bitter melon, cucumbers and bok choy. bitter melon, and bok choy can be dried and stored for the winter. carrots over winter in the garden, just brush off the snow and pull what you need. potatoes are super if you have the climate for them. hunt up a few rabbits and quail, raise some chickens.

just laid in another cord of wood for the winter. hard work but i don't have to fill a 1000 gallon tank with high dollar heating oil and when the power goes out the wood stove is still operational. something to think about given America's deteriorating infrastructure to include the power grid.

so many sissies in the world. when it comes they will be as lost as last years easter eggs.

this work did not get done by praying and hoping for a miracle. got it done by rolling up my sleeves and working hard.

I was a '99'er (two years on unemployment.

I learned to eat on $3 a day.

1 can of tuna for breakfast
1 package of the noodle mix you put in the microwave
1 can of ravioli or some other variation.

$3 a day, no problem.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22198582

Wow, I am glad you survived. But that food is devoid of any real nutrition and turn is packed with mercury. And the microwave zaps the nutrition from food and changes the molecular structure.

You would have been better off stretching one whole chicken for the week along with a bag of potatoes and some bananas/apples. It really is amazing what the body can survive on though.

BTW, the cheap tuna has less mercury than the expensive stuff so most likely you didn't get the full dose since most people trying to save money eat the cheap tuna.

Why would you say "spoiled"? The right to wholesome untainted food is not being pampered. As far as being rich we are far from it.
We worked hard and sacrificed to start our little driving school. Hotdogs, ramen noodles and 39cent tacos got us thru until we began to make money. We do not do drugs, my car is paid for and I wrench on it myself and my wifes.I also sometimes work all nite to get one of our cars ready for the next day. Why do you feel people do not deserve a good life.
You are buying into the self hate that the ptb teach.
 Quoting: Macraider

Driving around in a passenger seat is hard work? Putting gas and oil in a car is hard work? Give me a fucking break retard. I'm so sick and tired of people trying to justify their retard jobs as being "hard." I was against self driving cars, but now I'm all for it.

Wow.... We went to Costco tonight in Northern California, and the choice beef was $19.99 per POUND !! Also, everything we normally buy has gone up by at least -$1.00 - The organic whole chickens were 2 for $20 2 months ago, and NOW they are $30 to $35 for same 2 chickens!!

NOW, food for a family of four is costing $375 every 2 weeks (no food stamps here). Our weekly food bill has doubled this year!! Inflation is before our eyes. I had an anxiety attack shopping. I am very particular in purchasing REAL WHOLESOME FOODs for my family. I no longer buy any corn products because of GMOs. We stay away from high fructose corn syrup. I read the back of everything I buy and I find myself putting most of the food back on the shelf because of the junk in it.

My business that I have had for over 23 years is failing. For the first time in my life, I am very worried and concerned. I am making major changes to my life asap because I do not see any other way to survive. I take pride in taking care of myself and family. I do not want to go onto the governments tit for support. Is anyone else seeing the changes that I am seeing or struggling like I am struggling??

My spouse wants us to sell everything we own and move to IDAHO. Spouse wants us to prepare for a complete financial and government collaspe and he wants to grow and raise our own food. What do you think (your opinion is welcomed)??

11 years ago we paid $1.39 a pound for chuck roast. today it was priced at $4.39 a pound. 300% increase.

my wages have not increased by 300% over that same period.

The standard of living in the United States has dropped dramatically with no end in sight.

Of course the have yachts will continue to live in opulence even as their fellow Americans, having been job-jacked and sold down the river, will be digging in the dirt with a stick for bugs to eat.

you sound sincere so im going to stow my sarcasm except to say you have probably never been hungry.

yes the body can survive on little food because it will start to eat itself but someone who is doing hard physical labor is going to need a lot of good food or the body will
deteriorate rapidly and will be more prone to disease and infection.

im just going to top this off by saying try it get your chicken per week and potatoes and try to live for a month on those rations while working hard.

I don't understand why people are always so scared.
Millions of people already live with very little, and they manage.
Don't worry, you won't starve, just stop eating expensive foods like canned, processed, dairy or meat and start eating rice, beans and plain foods.
Whenever I go to the supermarket and buy basic foods, I don't pay that much, but if I start buying processed foods, then I pay twice as much.
We just need to adapt to the new world economy, that's all. And by doing this we will also be gentler to our planet.

Well, it would be better than tuna, ravioli and microwaved noodle mix. BTW, I have a relative recovering from mercury poisoning from eating two cans of albacore tuna a week for 8 months. Also people have survived very well on beans, rice, cheese, tortillas and some meat thrown in. And potatoes have vitamin c in them which our body doesn't make. And potatoes are still cheap. That will give a person who has a very physical job the energy they need to do it until they start making more money.
