To me it is very clear that there will soon be an economic collapse. It will be hard to live, impossible if you end up homeless from trying to hold onto a lifestyle that may be at the margin of your capability even now.

Cities will become dangerous. Food will be scarce as will jobs.

Do your best to prepare for what you think will happen. Whatever you do I recommend buying as much food as you can afford. Dry beans, rice, canned food, powdered potatoes, etc, etc. I could not handle having to watch my children go hungry.

California is a place that may not be very desirable soon. Some would say it isn't very desirable now, but I know there are some nice places there.

My husband has been telling me for years and he even took us on a trip to IDAHO to show us the difference of area/living and to look around. He has the same point of view as you have and warned me 2 years ago. He does nothing but study all day long. He is an excellent reader and researcher.

I as well as myself agree with you. It is so hard to consider moving because this is my home. I have lived here all my life, however, in my heart I know that you are correct. Sadly the worst is yet to come. If Obama gets back in watch out for sure. Fuel prices are a lot of the cause in price hikes, an Obama, in his own words, want high energy cost.

God don't I know it..... I own a DRIVINg SCHOOL for Teenagers!! I charge the same cost now as I did 23 years ago and my expense have QUADROOPLED!! I also had to let 7 employees go. In 2009 I had 15 teachers, and now I am down to 5. Kids are not completing the state requirements anymore due the economy.

We're having a hard time keeping up too. And, I've seen a severe dip in our business over the last 1-2 weeks, even though this is supposed to be our busy season. It's very frightening.

Food is getting more expensive, and when you're already living frugally and refuse to eat processed crap (we also live without food stamps, even though we would qualify), it's difficult to see what else can be cut from the budget. I suggest less meat, more whole grains, legumes, lentils, etc. Combined with healthy oils and good quality veggies, that's about as good as you're gonna get. Cook everything from scratch )if you don't already) - even bread. The down side to that is that it takes a lot of time, which can be in short supply when you have kids and are running a business.

We also have a garden, which helps a bit, and are considering getting chickens and possibly raising catfish. We're in the city though, so if shit gets bad, I'm sure we'd be raided and otherwise screwed immediately. Already seeing a general rise in crime in our neighborhood over the past 6 months, really bad the past two weeks.

I have had a sinking feeling, literally, figuratively. We're considering moving to a relative's remote piece of land up north. At least we'd have space for bees, chickens, livestock, and a bigger garden, orchards, etc. But, all of that takes time and money, both of which are in short supply. Well, the money is shorter in supply than the time, but you get my drift.

This past year and looking to the future, I really envy people who do not have children. If it was just me, it wouldn't be so bad. But with the kids to support, it is very scary.

You are correct. I agree with you. My husband is a major researcher of the current issues and news. I read also, that Mr. Obama has plans to have us Americans pay the same cost per gallon of gas as Europe. Only he wants to raise it slowly upon us populace.

Again you are correct because the cost of living is based upon the 18 wheeler truckers. As a professional, I can say that 98% of our manufactured goods are transported by 18 wheeler truckers and that 99% of our Agricultural foods are transported by 18 wheeler truckers.....All in all, everything is tied to the price of fuel. ]

This breaks my heart because I look at our children and worry for the future they have before them. My husband has taught our children to not be afraid of guns and we speak plainly and honestly about world events.

Have faith in your husbands research. My wife used to get very mad when I'd come home with a hundred dollars worth of canned food, but over time I've convinced her. Now that she believes she supports our efforts at preparing. She lost her dad when she was very young and after that she went through years of real poverty. The kind where some days she didn't get enough to eat. She doesn't want that for our daughter.

Even if we do our best we still may not make it. I've read accounts from the collapse in Argentina in 2001. People were getting robbed, raped, and killed by the hundreds daily. People starved.

The sheep are doomed. Sometimes I'll be standing in line at the store with my beans or canned food and I'll watch the people around me as they unload their carts. I look into their faces and they seem like zombies. I feel sorry for them because they aren't preparing and they will suffer badly.

Also, I would like to express that our current situation does have to deal with the value of the dollar. As the dollar goes down in value, countries are demanding more dollars for the fuel.

Mr. Obama has shut down much of our domestic energy capablities. We have enough natural gas to last 200 years and it is not difficult to convert a car to run on natural gas. This is deliberate to destroy our country.

I too see what you see my friend. I too have the same concerns. I worry that here I prepare and others not. My husbands family called him stupid years ago. Since then, the price of silver, which he told them to buy, has trippled in value. NOW, they are preparing somewhat. But they still do not believe how bad it is going to get. My husband talks to a GLP friend from Argentina and has learned also about their previous collaspe.

There has been 22 previous collaspe of fiat money and he has studied about all of them. He knows are dollar is doomed. I myself am so scared of QE3. I know what this means. It is the dagger in the heart of our dollar.

I, like you, buy much canned foods. I always look at the exp. year. I find tuna is good and has an exp. date of 2014. We also have bought a water filter good for 20k gallons and much dried food like FEMA....Spent 1 Billion dollars in dried food....I ask you, why? What for? This ought to tell you something.

May I ask what state you live in? I just want to tell you we do not shop for food at Walmart ever. Honestly the foods are GMOs and even the clothes are covered in poisons -have you not heard of the poisionous baby formula and the arsenic laced pet food.
