Don't really see it here yet.

Went to Wal*Mart last night. Loaf of bread still a dollar, cheese still around $3.50 per pound, 1/2 gal of milk $2. Same as it's been for a while.
 Quoting: Factual Error

Damn. What Wal-Mart are you shopping at?

Down in FL it's running anywhere from 1.50-3.00 per loaf on bread, milk is at least 3.89, and cheese is through the roof. Don't even get me started on the meat products. The same store i've visited for nearly a year has almost completely empty shelves. What's not empty is full of browning & turning meat, marked at 75% off. No kidding, i'll take a pic tomorrow & post it here. A small pack of hamburger meat is at least 10.00 a pound. That's for the crappy "pink slime" stuff. Real meat, like chicken, beef roast, etc, runs from 15-25.

I began re-stocking supplies last pay, and spent over 250.00 on not even 30 items, store-brand at that.

I think that we might be in the end times.

The global elites will be involved in activities to raise food prices and other things to reduce the number of people living in the world. They are very evil.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24214196

I just read your last sentence of your reply and I would like to respond: I agree that the global elites are involved in our demise. My husband believe in their weather control capabilities. He believes that the drought and destruction of crops in central USA is on purpose.

And yes, they are very EVIL. <-- Agreed.
Thank you. ;-)

I've tried to figure a date for the collapse, but it seems impossible. Without knowing all the input variables there's just no way. I actually thought it would've happenned already, but TPTB have proven skillfull at kicking the can down the road.

They might kick that can for some time to come, but in my gut I feel like the time is drawing near now. I had quit stockpiling food for 2 years because I had become complacent. We ended up eating most of what we had. Recently I've gotten an urgency in preparing and it has been a mad rush to get ready.

We are lucky to have a 65 acre family trust just a few miles from here. It has everything my extended family needs to survive. My grandparents were depression era cotton pickers and they knew how to survive. They were still plowing with a team of mules as recently as the early 1980s when I was a young child. They liked their lifestyle and didn't change much even when they got fairly wealthy. They taught us enough, I think, that we can make it. I've never been too good to get in a wet garden barefoot and do what had to be done to save the blown over corn or what have you.

You are correct. I wondered too what store this poster shops at! I will mail order that store if poster gives me the address! He might be a paid poster.

The people in the media are betraying us, as well as our government to tell us that their is no inflation. I have NEVER seen food this high. EVERY time I go back to the store, the food prices are higher. We know a Safeway food chain worker, and she has that the price adjustments are ALWAYS UP NOW; never down.

Ok. THis is my biggest fear is hunger. I would not be able to take my children going hungry, or any kids for that matter. What is the world coming to?

There are Billionaires everywhere. If I had a Billion, no one would be hungry on this planet. I do not understand how someone could have so much and not reach out to others to share just alittle bit of what they have.

And here you have all the people buying the expensive iphone 5's at the expense of $2 per hour workers who have nets installed in their factories to keep them from jumping off the buildings that they work at!! WOW.

Re: Soaring Food Prices !!! OMG!!!
Here in Arkansas we are in generally good shape as a community. Central arkansas is enjoying a natural gas boom and in my city of Conway we have had a big technology influx. This little city of 50,000 has three universities and one of the highest percentages of college graduates per capita in the country. Who would have thought that about Arkansas? HP and the other companies have been moving in here so our local economy is good.

Still that didn't save my small business back in '09. I had a little construction company. Building stopped for a year so I bailed out and decided to go to college. My wife works while I go to school. We are as poor as we have ever been. No steak and corona every night like when I had my business. We are probably happier now though. The stress level is way down now that we have learned to live with less.

We are healthier too. I ride a bicycle a lot to save gas. I've actually gotten addicted to it.

We go on as if the economy is going to be ok. I mean we prepare, but we haven't changed our entire direction. Otherwise I'd have a job and we'd be banking my entire check as silver and canned food.

I originally hoped I coulkd get my Ph.D before the crash. Then we could leave the country easily. I really like Chile. I don't think we have the 4 more years I need before the crash though.

Incidentally, I read on here that you and others have noticed a sharp decline in business very recently. I read today that the shippers are off by 9% a week ago. That is a huge drop in goods being delivered. It might foretell something coming in a matter of days or weeks.

We are still in the historically worst month of the year for the stock market.

Re: Soaring Food Prices !!! OMG!!!
Wow.... We went to Costco tonight in Northern California, and the choice beef was $19.99 per POUND !! Also, everything we normally buy has gone up by at least -$1.00 - The organic whole chickens were 2 for $20 2 months ago, and NOW they are $30 to $35 for same 2 chickens!!

NOW, food for a family of four is costing $375 every 2 weeks (no food stamps here). Our weekly food bill has doubled this year!! Inflation is before our eyes. I had an anxiety attack shopping. I am very particular in purchasing REAL WHOLESOME FOODs for my family. I no longer buy any corn products because of GMOs. We stay away from high fructose corn syrup. I read the back of everything I buy and I find myself putting most of the food back on the shelf because of the junk in it.

My business that I have had for over 23 years is failing. For the first time in my life, I am very worried and concerned. I am making major changes to my life asap because I do not see any other way to survive. I take pride in taking care of myself and family. I do not want to go onto the governments tit for support. Is anyone else seeing the changes that I am seeing or struggling like I am struggling??

My spouse wants us to sell everything we own and move to IDAHO. Spouse wants us to prepare for a complete financial and government collaspe and he wants to grow and raise our own food. What do you think (your opinion is welcomed)??

Re: Soaring Food Prices !!! OMG!!!
Food prices, here in Maine, are extremely high as well.

Mostly because I choose to not put genetically modified organisms in my body, and it costs A LOT more to live. I have chosen to eat half as much as I used to.

2 organic green bell peppers - $5
10 slices of organic cheese - $5 (WTF?!)
1 pound of organic pork - around $8
1 pound of organic, grass-fed steak - around $18
1 pound of wild salmon - $20
1/2 gallon of organic milk - $3.99

Gas is currently hovering around $3.90 a gallon but I assume it will go back up once TPTB realize we are doing nothing about high gas prices and nobody seems to care. They essentially push it to see how much we will pay without rioting. What people don't understand is the prices of goods are tied to gasoline.

Try $8 a gallon like we psy in the UK and done for the last 5 years. Only the super rich own cars with engine sizes over 2.5L. I even know people that limit what they buy in food so they can drive where they like. That's a fucked up society, with the US no different in that respect. Poverty end game will see the re-emeergence of Hogarth-esque scenes in London and big cities. We haven't seen the tip of the iceberg yet.

We have (had) a little thing called North Sea Oil and Gas and We still didn't benefit from our our fucking natural resources.

The Soveriegm Weath fund of Norway is an example of how a government can both exploit it's resources and protect it population at the same time.

As the global energy war of the next 30 years starts to hot up, new big players like Poland and Ireland should take note and demand a share in their country's wealth.

In the case of Poland they are set to replicate the success of Bakken shale gas production whilst Ireland recently found a 1billion barrel oil find off it's south west coast. Exxon are moving in next year and are funding the drilling of more well in the West of Ireland Atlantic Margin prospects.

How can expanding the money supply to rich people increase prices? Rich people aren't down at WM buying shit. Bailing out banks in Europe isn't inserting money into our economy. Demand pull inflation only occurs when the money is put into the hands of the people, and that ain't happening.

No, I used to do very well with coupons but most are only for mainstream food full of disgusting stuff. If they eat healthy then growing may be the only way to save money. Try buying from the farmers market too. These prices op quotes are similar to what I pay in NC. I noticed the jump this summer.
