Approximate Current Market Prices in central Mexico, converted to dollars and pounds.
Most cuts of meat from butcher shops - $2 per pound Eggs(they sell per kilo here), but around $1.20 per dozen Cheese, various types, around $4 per pound Potatoes (white rose) - 15 cents per pound Tomatoes - 30 to 40 cents per pound (tomato prices are high right now and normally sell at the price of potatoes) Beans - $.80 to $1.50 per pound Corn - $.30 per pound.
Most of these things sell in the tiangis open air markets directly from the people who grow it locally, or just one seller beyond the people who grow it, as in the butchers.
Quoting: ehecatl I have always wondered about moving south. To be perfectly honest I would now be afraid. It seems so strange to be the minority. I also concerned about the near civil war down there. Does that affect your life? I noticed something I thought strange. The mexican soda has real sugar, not corn syrup. While our soda is loaded with corn syrup. WTH?
