Re: Man who lost iPad on airplane used 'Find My iPad' app to locate it inside flight attendant's home
It is too bad... Don't understand why people think if they found something lost it is theirs...

So many choose not to do the right thing and try to find the owners... something like that would have been very easy to do...
 Quoting: FATMANGOBOOM

She stole it...

There was no "finding" it. It was outright THIEVED.
 Quoting: Serenity777

No she didnt. She would have to take it from the owner for it to be theft.
Another passenger handed it to her. She didnt steal shit.
She probably violated the airlines policy, but thats about it.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17549114

She STATED that another passenger handed it to her, but, we don't have proof of that, and...She CLEARLY works for the flight. All she had to do was turn it in right at the next airport she landed. -You're quite gullible.

You're going to believe THIS WOMAN after an IPAD showed up at her home with her information on it? Even though she said she was going to return it? Why didn't she return it to her work the MOMENT that it was handed to her?
 Quoting: Serenity777

The man admitedly "lost" the ipad. She did not steal it.
It was a scumbad thing to do, taking it home, but she did not steal it from HIM.
The airline PROBABLY has a policy that all lost and founds become thier property. Airlines sell unclaimed property all the time It should have been turned it
Gullible, thats funny, I think you are the gullible one.

Remember karma. I found an iphone last year at a dog park. It was just lying in the grass. I called the first person in the recent directory and it was a nurse for an older guy who's wife was dying. This girl was their private nurse. The couple apparently very wealthy.

Anyway the nurse was like omg you are so nice. We met in a parking lot nearby so she could retrieve it for them.

She turned out to be beautiful and we got to talking. That night she gave me a proper thankyou in the front seat of my truck. True story. No good deed goes unrewarded.

She was arrested, so theft did occur, under the Oregon penal law, however it's worded there.

Each law usually has a few definitions of how that law can be applied. Just because she didn't take it out of his backpack doesn't mean it's not stolen.

She knew it wasn't her property, she knew it was handed to her because she was in a position of authority (flight attendant) and she knew she was supposed to make an effort to find the owner, or pass it on to another employee who would do that.

It's a theft no matter how you slice it. Nice try, though.

Sounds like a bit of an idiot to me,
Not saying the flight attendant isn't in the wrong for taking it home but isn't there a certain time period for claiming stuff you've lost?
But then I'm one the finders/keepers lot.

If losing an item implied that the owner should have no reasonable expectation of ever having it returned, then why does everyone know exactly what a lost-and-found box is?

I'm willing to bet the airline this attendant worked for has very detailed procedures on what is to be done with customer property found on a plane. I doubt that procedure states the employee should bring the item home and 'plan on returning it'.

By that reasoning, if you forget where you parked your car (lost it), it's then ok for others to take it.

Makes to sens. To you. Nobody else though. Not the police.

Leave it long enough, someone can claim it

Right. And when a bag of money falls off an armored truck, because they "lost it", as the door flew open, and you pick it up and keep it, try telling the cops that the "theft is negated, as they lost it".

Then we will have your booking photo and a thread on you here, saying, "what a moron".

I love shit-house lawyers.

No, they can't. It would be impounded by police, and a letter sent to the registred owner.
Owner would be billed for storage.

After a period of time, unclaimed, it would likely go to auction.

It would never go to someone "finding it".

Yeah, if he lost $1,000.00 cash and I found it, I should be entitled to keep it with no consequences even if he tracked me down and caught me red-handed.

What a jerk.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17549114

How so? She started using it, started putting her personal information on it like it was hers. How is that not stealing?
