The man admitedly "lost" the ipad. She did not steal it.

It's scary that people that think like you are actually out there, walking around.

Zero scruples, morality, or common sense.

Fact is he lost it, and that negates any theft from him.
.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17549114

Right. And when a bag of money falls off an armored truck, because they "lost it", as the door flew open, and you pick it up and keep it, try telling the cops that the "theft is negated, as they lost it".

Then we will have your booking photo and a thread on you here, saying, "what a moron".

The man admittedly lost the fucking thing, ADMITTEDLY LOST.
Rest my case with a ADMITTEDLY LOST.

By that reasoning, if you forget where you parked your car (lost it), it's then ok for others to take it.

Makes to sens. To you. Nobody else though. Not the police.

Leave it long enough, someone can claim it
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17549114

No, they can't. It would be impounded by police, and a letter sent to the registred owner.
Owner would be billed for storage.

After a period of time, unclaimed, it would likely go to auction.

It would never go to someone "finding it".

In the UK the law states "theft by finding". That is what it should be. The responsible citizen would hand a lost item in at the local Police office. If the item is not claimed within a certain time period then the item becomes the finders property.

I don't believe this someones going to take a 500 or 1,000 total flight maybe plus+ taxes on an airplane and attempt to find an 800 dollar Ipad from a flight attendant who found it with an application (What kind of app Iphone?)

What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

In the article the owner of the Ipad lives in Reno now im not sure if Reno is in Nevada - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia or if it's not there or not...

Really WTF! Wow this woman lost her job and was arrested from a guy many miles away out of state not only this but she now has a fine of $12,500 in jail.

This is pretty much common all through out Europe. If you leave something on the plane, it gets handed to the police. This same policy exists in the US, but not everywhere. Some airlines have policies which they keep lost items in a bin until it's found. If someone just takes it and starts using it for themselves, it's theft.

If this guy who lost this ipad makes a five hundred thousand or million or more a year i feel helpless and fall on my knees for this woman loosing her job having to pay 12 thousand and 500 dollars.

This man willing lost his ipad on an airplane, it wasn't valueable enough untill he realized "oh im at home now where's my ipad?" Dumbass.

He lost it and this woman should have been fired i agree but charging her 12 thousand and 500 dollars she didn't deserve so much money of a charge 12 THOUSAND DOLLARS MORE THAN THE IPAD of 500!!!!!!!!!!!!!! = this outrageous jail fee for a job she was just fired for.

This is why America fucking sucks, i have debt on my credit history for an auto loan wich i do not even own a car and i cant have a creditor from either burea remove it without mailing them.

I just want to add that that guy should keep better track of his items. Obviously it wasn't very valuable to him if he left it on a plane. You wouldn't leave a diamond necklace sitting on a table at Denny's, walk out and go home, then go looking for it later and wonder why it's not there, would you? If you leave your stuff behind someplace it isn't stealing.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3788465

you are a FUCKING THIEF

your mentality is that of a thief, and a possible sociopath

the only thing keeping you from stealing anything you want is fear of being caught

but in your heart, you have no boundaries, you have no code of ethics, you have no internal sense of right and wrong, and you are a menace to society

I have a feeling, from your other posts, that you are also a big chip on the shoulder minority, and you are always trying to rationalize why you should be able to get away with crap that everyone knows is wrong, because you think they owe you

in otherwords you are a brain damaged 3 year old in a 20+ year old body

by the way, the air attendant is a representative of the airline

the airline is not supposed to be STEALING your posssesions, even if they get lost

at least in the civilized USA in which I grew up, everyone I know grew up with "LOST AND FOUND" departments, and we knew that if we found something which wasn't ours, we should turn it in

I am lucky enough to have grown up in a rich part of Connecticut, and I have lost my wallet a couple of times, once when it slipped out of my jacket draped over a chair

I was contacted by my local town police that someone had turned the wallet in, with everything intact, including cash and credit cards

I have turned in a wallet, a laptop and a few cell phones in my time

it's called ethical evolution

I want to live around intelligent, evolved humans, not animals and children

Many posters on this thread are showing themselves to be badly raised children, or children of thieves

Fuck you all, and I hope you get to experience people taking your things should you have a moment of inattention or distraction

Be certain that YOU who defend this woman are the problem, and all your attempts to rationalize your shitty behavior make you sound like damaged selfish children
