Who here earns over $60,000 a year and what is your job? | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1403018 United States 09/23/2012 11:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am self employed in the low voltage installation field, I also do a specialized type of programming. I'm sure nobody will believe me, but I will make well over $300,000 this year. I have not made less then $200,000 per year in the last ten, except for one year. It took/takes a lot of long hours and travel, but the money is great! I don't think I could ever go back and work for anybody else. Either one would be advantageous along with the understanding of the systems that run these, you could be sitting on a gold mine. The people who originally wrote the code and maintained it are slowly retiring and dieing. They are not training replacements and the systems are not being replaced. Eventually they'll be replaced. Anyway, I cannot find an IT/Software engineering job in my country with modern languages. How I would be able to find for a language from the Jurassic period? Dude, he explained to you why... The wife of a guy that I work with did this about 10 years ago, for a place that processes prescriptions instantly... And they practically throw money at her, and tons of vacations and huge bonuses... It's nuts I don't disagree, but sometimes it is best and cheapest to invest some money in changing s/w and h/w infrastructures. I just cannot invest any time more to learn a language that I would hardly find a job in my country. |

I'm a store manager for a major retailer. My base is $87,000. We have the ability to bonus 2x a year (50% of our salary). I have a sales plan of $33 million and employ 130 associates. I only have a high school diploma. I started at the company 12 years ago as a back up cashier (started at $10.00 an hour) and have worked very hard to advance. The job at the time was to be supplemental income. Now I am able to support my girls. Do I love it? Some days yes, some days no. You are only as good as the #'s you achieve. It is 24/7 as well as holidays and very stressful because there is no job security. |

Read this and almost got mad then realized it was a joke (and the jokes on us!) Not a joke Yes u have to have a masters in child development but I can see and know why people say teachers are overpaid It is truly regurgitated reading from a lesson plan book plus babysitting Work hours are 9am-3pm & in that 1hr is naptime and 30min is lunch so it's like taking advantage of the taxpayers to the extreme Now we KNOW you're puttin' us on. Teachers are educators, baby sitters, nurses, psychologists, coaches, and many other things all wrapped up in one. They're on their feet all day, and they bring their work home with them and have to prepare for the next day's lesson. No real teacher of kids would claim they have it "easy". 9 to 3? Where do you teach? Try 7:30 or 8 to 3 or 4. Apollo astronauts couldn't have passed through Van Allen's Belt. Van Allen wore suspenders. |

I've worked as an electrician in the silicon valley heydays, I've worked for a bank selling home mortgages and I ran my own business for ten years. What I've found out is exactly what "P-Diddy" said................ "Mo Money, Mo Problems" I now make about 60K a year and could not be happier. I did manage to bank a lot of money from my previous employment so we paid cash for our cars and only owe about 100K on our 2500 SQ. FT. home. |
