Anyone have a good earache remedy?
I've got a horrible earache right now, severe pain..I mean severe.

Anyone have any quick home remedies or suggestions to relieve the pain? Plain old heat maybe?

I've read a couple of older threads but I seem to be missing or am out of a couple of things suggested..oil of oregano I don't have, I don't really want to put piss in my ear and I'm not sure of anything else that's safe to stick in there.

I have about 3 hours of making breakfast, packing lunches and getting kids ready for school so the vicodin I have is out of the question til they're gone, so I need a little help to get me by for a few hours, if you'd all be so kind as to recommend something that has worked for you and isn't to complicated I'd appreciate it. I'm not lazy..just not keen on moving around much right now, hurts too much.
And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it." Amen.

Re: Anyone have a good earache remedy?
When I had swimmers ear recently, I used those heat wrap things you can buy in the store and kept it upside my head at all times. Its a bit tough when you have things to do, I know, but it does help.

Also: I happen to put hydrogen peroxide into my ear, and that literally killed 95% of the pain I was in. I put it in there and it bubbled up for a long, LONG time. I was in excruciating pain, tugging at my ear and sometimes even smacking the side of my head on my temple because it just hurt so damn bad :( So yeah, I recommend the H2O2. Leave it in there about 5 to 10 minutes and see if that helps, and get you some heat wraps: I got the ones that were for menstrual cramps because they are small and shaped so, when folded in half on itself, generated good hot heat, and I could fixate them aside my temple/jaw with a headband (I looked like a dork but I didnt care, it helped!)

I hope you get to feeling better soon. I know the pain you are in right now hf

Thank you!

It hurts just sitting here but when I get up it pounds and is 10x worse, I think my kids are gonna have to help me out this morning.

Luckily I have the heat wraps and peroxide on hand so I'll try both. I've always just popped a vicodin when I had a bad earache so I haven't dabbled much in alternative remedies for that..the pee thing, I think my grandma tried that on me when I was younger and I'm sure it helped, warm liquid and all but I just can't bring myself to pour my own pee in my ear. :)

Take a bunch of turmeric. Just put a heaping tablespoon in a glass of water or orange juice, whatever, stir it up, and drink it down. It's a powerful disinfectant and antibacterial and will really help kill the infection.

Then, for the pain, take an advil and excedrin - together. If the pressure/pain starts to relent, but not enough, take another combo. Be careful, because it's hard on your body. But with severe pressure pain, like migraines and things, it's a miracle. I got this info from a nurse, who gives this to people with savage migraines in ER when they don't want to take hardcore pain meds.

You have an infection. Keep taking the turmeric 2-3 times a day - it will work.

I have that on hand too. Been trying to add it to this and that when I cook as I've been reading up on it's health benefits lately.

Thank you for the tips!

Yeah it killed me too when I got up and moved around, thats when it was the absolute worst. I was literally laying down most of the time just so I didnt ache, with the little heat pad underneath my head against the pillow. I'll never go through that shit again and will make sure *all* water is out of my ears whenever I swim from now on :)

Mine is from being sick for two weeks, resp infection and all that crap.

I've had issues though since I vacationed last year, went into the mountains and just being at higher altitudes jacked me all up. Came home with double ear infection and all sorts of good stuff. Since then my ears have constantly crackled and popped and I've have minor pain here and there. This earache takes the cake though.

It's like a toothache, it's one of those pains that just make you want to bash your head into a wall until you're out cold. It's awful.

chuckle That's what I said last year.

At least you know what to do when you swim. If you get a nasty cold though..you might be screwed.

Peroxide is good, turmeric is also good taken internally in general.
The best ear drops I have found are using the following recipe.

1/3 Peroxide
1/3 Apple cider Vinegar
1/3 Alcohol (rubbing alcohol)
25 drops GSE
0r Colloidal silver.

Mix all this in a 2 oz tincture bottle.

Gets rid of them in 24 hrs if you use it every hour or two.

Op,
You may have to treat for an inner ear infection.

If so, your doctor may give you Bactrim or an antibiotic that will help you clear both the respiratory infection and the eustachian dysfunction. Please consider going to your doctor. It should be a fairly simple examination that will lead to you feeling much better quickly.

heres the cure

use 2% hyrdogen peroxide in an ear dropper

have a tissue ready

tilting head to side or lying down on side fill up ear canal with hydrogen peroxide solution using ear dropper.

leave in ear for a few minutes, there will be bubbling noise as the peroxide works its wonders.

after a few minutes has passed using the tissue hold against the ears and change to the other ear and do the same.

repeat this once more.

you should feel the peroxide running into your throat once it has made its way through the inner ear.

this works for any ear nose and throat problem

influenza doesnt stand a chance with this! (it enters from the ear!!)

for extra quick action, while peroxide is in ear canal, hold nose and blow gently to encourage the solution to travel through the tubes..

Good choice! Sweet oil (refined olive oil) and plain vegetable glycerine work as well. Vegetable glycerine is a
ontact bacterial desiccant(I can never spell "dediccant"-at any rate,it kills the little buggers)

Oh, and if anything you put in your ear is going down your throat-your ear drum is not intact, and needs to be patched. This is simple process where they take a bit of skin from behind your ear and put it on the open spot. You can hear much better after that.If you have surgically implanted tubes...follow your surgeons care instructions.

Yes,

I must confirm. Hydrogen peroxide always takes them out. Lie on the floor and dropper it into ear. I use 1/3 HP and 1/3 warm water. Let it bubble for a minute of two and then do the other side.

FYI, just removed a wart from near my thumb, now completely healed. Clipped the top off and then soaked it in HP until the bubbling stopped. Was fully healed in 1 week.

well, apparently the fish antibiotics at the pet store are the same as people antibiotics and they have amoxicillin and a few others. i plan to try this next time i need it. you don't need a prescription for it either. i have previously looked this up and see that it seems to be true and they have it even at petsmart, etc. this seems a great idea for those that don't have insurance (such as myself) especially.

anyway, good luck, hope you feel better soon as earaches are one of the worst things to endure!

When I was young, I used to get ear aches all the time. My mom used a little peroxide first, then would use an eye dropper and a few drops of warmed sweet oil, packed with cotton. Usually did the trick.

If it's no better within 24-48 hours (or if it gets worse) you may wanna see your doctor.

I still keep a small bottle of sweet oil on hand. Cheap, effective, and safe.

This sounds ridiculous, but a few years ago I had an ear infection that abscessed. The pain was excruciating beyond imagination. Even 2 hydrocodone didn't relieve it.

The ONLY thing that helped, was taking my blowdryer and turning it on and blowing it in the ear. That is the ONLY relief I got was from the blowdryer. It really does work, and I have no idea why.

I have been having ear infection on and off for the last few weeks! Bloody hell, it keeps me up most nights.

Last week went to hospital after having tried all the pills on earth to kill the infection. Natural, herbal, antibiotics etc. nothing works

They put me on an IV, first bag with supplements. minerals etc etc. second bag with antibiotics.

That worked, next day repeated the IV and i was rid of it.

But the bloody itching... it is humanly impossible not to touch your ears !!! So i got the infection again

ARRGGHHHH seems like endless cycle :(
