Can anyone tell me why the gov't was involved in changing tv's from analog to Digital??

The bandwidth or spectrum was too crowded with analog. By going digital they were able to slide several channels into the piece of spectrum that one used to reside in.

The airwaves belong to the public so it has to be our representatives in govt administrating them.

As far as the analog vs digital question.. I was wondering if our conversations could be heard via our Tv's. I know it's a whacked out theory but that's why I found this forum interesting!

So their mind control works better. They are giving free digiboxes out even if you don't have a tv licence and its going on all over eu, I don't know how the yanks are working it.

This 700 megahertz (MHz) band was beneficial to broadcasters because signals broadcast on this band could penetrate the thick walls of a building easier than regular cellphone signals. This made the old TV spectrum attractive to cellphone carriers, who wanted to offer wireless broadband access. As a result, 4G cellular networks developed by Verizon Wireless, AT&T and T-Mobile would use both the 700 MHz spectrum in combination with the higher-frequency cellphone signals, which are between 850 MHz and 1.9 gigahertz (GHz).

Same thing. They arent giving them out anymore, but in the beginning you could go online and get a voucher mailed to you and then you went and picked one up at the store. 2 per household. :)

I\'m only guessing, but if there are 200 million \"regular\" televisions in America to be converted into HD, then that $40 in government subsidy per TV x 200,000,000 = 8 billion dollars. Why is the government so anxious to spend $8 billion dollars on her citizens to improve the clarity of a TV picture? Or is the recently touted \"additional bandwidth\" cover story that supposedly is to be gained with the HD technology the only and genuine reason for spending so much taxpayer dollars on HD conversion?

You used to be able to pick up cell phone conversations with a TV. I was still doing it in the late 90's. You needed an old model TV with manual tuning knobs. You could pick up cells on the UHF dial around channel 80.

Stopped watching TV ever since.

it would need a transmitter circuit (they dont have one), it would need much more power to transmit such a signal any appreciable distance (though not if hooked to cable), and would actually need a microphone (you could duplex the signal and use the speaker, but you would get choppy sound on at least 1 side). they would also require a rather huge "listening post" with either some very impressive super computers, or literally millions of employees listening, all to just listen to fucktards critique singers on "american idol", or argue about the bills. our conversations really arent that important, or impressive.

It's amazing, happened at the same time as the internet and computers.

The government subsidized the purchase of MILLIONS of digital converter boxes at $20 a pop. Do you really believe the government would spend hundreds of millions of dollars just so you could have a nice digitally-clear picture? Bwa - ha-ha-ha!

By using digital, they are able to use frequencies best used for mind control. The soviets experimented on this many years ago successfully, I might add. By using these frequencies, it controls the masses. Fear,or the opposite, docile compliance might be created. I wouldn't use a newer television if you gave it to me.
