Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24352977 just looked at your location and my location on Google earth, and from where I am you are in a DIRECT line of sight from where i saw the meteorite, to my north east. what did you hear, exactly? and the glow, what direction did you see it? this is important. big bucks in these things mate! if you saw the glow in the south west, it's somewhere between us, or the fragments of it are anyway! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 24352977 United Kingdom 09/24/2012 03:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well i was pendryn coming from brecon beacons the noise was horrendous it was like something like grating accross the sky and it was like a huge woosh but sounded like it was scraping across the sky the glow was also towards herford which would have been north east from wher i was standing someone who came from the area of the story arms also seen this glow in the sky and heared the noise, i have to add to this that some 3 to 4 mins after the glow and noise two fast approaching millitary aircraf were circling the area at a fast pace. They seems to circle over to treherbert mountain and back again to penderyn and story arms, something happned but havent a clue as to what it was. |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 8257346 United Kingdom 09/24/2012 03:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | How come no one ever takes any pictures? You'd think with how technology is today you'd at least have your phone on you at all times so if anything happens you can document it. Happens very rarely. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24332193 it wasn't like that. it was cloudy, but the fiery orange glow, easily picked up with your eyes, would have just been written off as the sun reflecting on the clouds, that's if your phone cam could even pick up the faint orange glow. they're not the best at picking up on what your eyes can make out, are they? as i said, at first i thought it was just a very low plane, but then, watching this glow, intense at first, slowly fade, i thought something else happened, then put two and two together. by then the glow was very faint. it must have been very high, and very big, to have been seen by me and the other guy, 12 miles apart as the crow flies. anyone from Hereford hear anything, or anyone from that part of the world? |

I'm in Dudley and I didn't hear anything. could it be that being directly under large explosions like this means you don't hear them? isn't there an area of silence with things like this? I seem to remember people near mount saint helens when it went heard nothing, because they were so close to it, but people further away heard a huge explosion. okay, based on that, did anyone in the north or east of england hear anything then, at around 1900 BST, maybe a minute or two earlier or later? |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 8257346 United Kingdom 09/25/2012 12:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Im in cardiff,I heard a big roaring noise last night but assumed it was the police helicopter. when i looked out of the window i couldn't see any copter. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24388017 was that about 7pm? it happened between 1855 and 1900 bst last night, or that's when I heard it anyway. It would have taken a while for the sound to get to me. i'm wondering about this. with all the jet activity around at the time of that weird orange glow, let's say an object about 50 feet wide, or maybe a bit bigger, was coming in, COULD the air force shoot at something like that and make it disintegrate, if it's trajectory was well known enough? not saying that's what happened, just wondering if we HAVE that capability. look at the trajectory of that line on that weird met office radar image I grabbed. It was heading not far from London. CAN we successfully shoot something travelling at hyper velocity out of the sky? If so, what sort of ordnance would they use for it? I think they blew up a threat rock last night, and I and a few others heard it. I suppose we'll never know though. |
