If teachers could be responsible enough for those parents that believe in corporal punishment, then it's their choice. For me, no person better touch my child! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12042051 I think for those students that misbehave, give them a choice to leave the premises or act civil. The fact is that at 15 years of age the kid should have know better and behaved without driving someone to the extreme behavior of spanking. The problem begins with the parents who have not bothered to teach their offspring how to behave or act in public and thus they end up acting like privileged self-centered cretins. If the children bothered to listen and apply themselves to their schoolwork, would we as a country still be dropping to third world educational levels? If your child was in the first grade and was talking in class and the teacher rapped their knuckles with a ruler just what would you do scream and sue. Guess what many years go I came home and told my parents that the teacher hit my hand with a ruler and when asked I told them why which resulted in more punishment and a long lecture. It was definitely an attitude adjustment for me as after that I paid attention and caused no further distractions for the teacher. Ok ya dote, did you even read the article? She was being punished for letting a classmate copy her work. Certainly not a legitimate reason for physical punishment IMHO. Actually, this sort of primitive discipline needs to be abolished entirely. I guess Texas may be an exception, since only idiots live there, but do we really want to teach our children that it is OK to hit and hurt other people when they don't follow your rules? She chose the spanking over a 2 day suspension. Now, I think 2 day suspension is a bit much too, but that was in their rulebook. If the spanking was guaranteed to be done by a female, and a male started doing it, the girl COULD have objected to that. She was a "well regarded athlete" or some such, not someone who was unable to speak for herself. |

I am surprised the child would allow herself to be identified. Is spanking and caning no longer an embarassment? Why would anyone publicize their school punishment. Now everyone knows she is ill behaved. Her parents must have to hand their heads in shame in public, knowing that everyone else knows that they have failed as parents. |

My mom always told us that if we ever got a spanking in school, we'd get another one when we got home. |

Apparently, you did not read or could not understand my reply so how might I reply simpler so that you will comprehend what I have stated as clearly my opinion was “the teacher rapped their knuckles with a ruler” would illicit their attention. However you are correct spanking or rapping knuckles is not appropriate for cheating nor is whitewashing the lying cheating littler bugger’s behavior try expelling or suing the parents for producing useless entitled loser offspring. |
