Life is boring.
Whenever I tell anyone that have such a shocking reaction like "How can you ever say life is boring?! Look around you!"

Thing is, I do. Nothing is exciting. People around me watch sports, play video games, go shopping, etc. and none of it interests me at all. What is the point? All I ever do is work and sleep. People my age tend to smoke a lot of weed and drink and go to the club on the weekends but I can't do all of that- it's just so boring and people at the clubs are so fake. So I just stay home and listen to music or just drive around aimlessly wishing I could be somewhere else besides on this exhausting and uninteresting planet.

Yes - little things do excite me like watching the sun set or going on hikes but all of it is short-lived pleasure. The sun eventually goes down and it gets dark outside, or the hike eventually comes to an end and then I'm just left there thinking, "I wish there was more!"

I'm not depressed, I just feel like I've been here on earth way too many times and it's all so mundane. Winning a million dollars isn't even going to fix this feeling I have. I feel empty and unfulfilled. I just wish I could lose myself in mindless antics of today just so I don't sit here wishing I could just vanish. I live to work and then I wonder why? Why am I making money when nothing I buy brings me pleasure. I'm just surviving I guess.

Don't take anything for granted. I feel blessed when I breathe in and out.

Buy a little scooter/moped. When I'm bored I scoot around town for an hour or so and always come home rejuvenated and with a smile. Look at everything with new eyes, like you've never seen form before.

I feel much the same OP...however I would have to admit that I am clinically depressed....and anyone who isn't isn't paying attention or lacks any kind of idealogical conviction...I think it is up to each of us to find our own meaning and purpose...some people find it in the Christian story or in some pursuit of achievment like setting up a dental clinic in Afghanistan or making a living for their family...I don't really have any answers for you...I don't find much joy in the rat-wheel either...right now I'm off of it and trying to figure out how to live in peace and integrity..

I give a lot but I get nothing in return (although I don't care for anything in return, just out of principle). Taking care of my mother when she had emotional problems and psychological problems while no one else in my family was there. Being there when my friends needed me no matter how tired I was. Getting people around when they didn't have a ride somewhere. Etc. etc. I feel good about what I did and I don't expect things in return. I'm just making a point that you can do the right thing and always be there for people but that doesn't mean you can't feel the way that I do.

Nah - I love myself enough. I don't need to rely on other people to feel love. I'm just bored, unfulfilled, tired of the routine of life for what I ask myself.

Exactly! It's a rat-wheel! Trying to find a purpose in a rat-wheel is pretty mind-numbing if you ask me. I can sit here and enjoy be thankful for being alive but what am I just supposed to sit here day after day, wallowing in the mundane aspects of life and just chalk it up to well I'm breathing? Uhh...okay. And I was born for what exactly? Breathing?

At least I'm not the only one that feels this way!

Re: Life is boring.
I like to learn stuff and I am never bored if I am setting my own schedule.

I am only bored when trapped in a meeting or something like that that I can't walk out of or open my laptop in... I try to avoid such situations as much as possible.

LIFE though is never boring, it's so exciting and interesting, there is never nearly enough time in the day for me to do everything I want to do.

If you have spare time and don't know what to fill it with, you need to start learning about your planet, universe, self and reality. It's so fascinating that I don't think you can possibly be bored ever again in your spare time.

Rat wheel... depressed... neither of you must be self-employed.

I assure you I'm aware and I see plenty of things that make me angry and sad...and plenty of other stuff too. Being self-employed though, nobody's cramming misery down my throat on a day to day basis...I am no depressed whatsoever, I love life.

That's the key for you guys too, I bet.

Every once in a while I think the same thing too. I start thinking self-defeatist thoughts and think that my life is not good.

There are 2 things, I think that will make you appreciate every second of your life.

1. Being in the Military (done that)
2. SALVIA

YES, Salvia. If you want to appreciate your life as it is now. Get some 20X Salvia. Pack a pipe and take a KING KONG hit. I do this about 2x a year. Alone.

I guarantee, 10 minutes later, after the terror is over, you'll appreciate your life in a much needed new light.

:)

Re: 1. I think many vets actually wish they could forget what they experienced in the military. It is extremely sad and dehumanizing. It's good that you grew from it instead. You are in the minority.

2. Glad you also grew from Salvia. Some people will have a "bad trip" though and have the opposite of your experiencing. That's probably the minority but still a risk. More importantly, you don't need drugs to appreciate life.

I don't drink or do drugs to have an amazing life. I don't like not being sober because part of being able to obtain the great joys of being able to understand life and accomplish meaningful things is to be clear-headed. If you drug yourself, that's like filling your ears with cotton balls and then trying to hear the world's most beautiful music, and joining in with your own instrument. I find the cotton balls very much "in the way" of what I want to do.

Re: Life is boring.
Some people say you need to find someone to love to feel "happy" and all that shit they see in movies. Here's my 2 cents on how to appreciate life more.

Family- Don't just at life like "myself against the world" attitude. It's a bigger challenge to look after everyone in your family. If you have both of your parents, or atleast one, remember that they'll get old. Thrive to do your best for when they need you. People could be depending on you in the future like you depended on them.

Dating- The whole love thing doesn't work with me. I love to get them to like me, but I get bored after I have them for a while. Go out and look for beautiful women, then make them for you :) if you're like me, recycle! if not, then keep them if they're worth it.

I don't do salvia to escape or to get buzzed. I do it to scare the ever living shit out of myself so that when I return I have a new appreciation for life.

I learned that it had this effect by mistake.

You do not need all the toys.

Empty highway and pitch dark night ... accelerate to high speed.

Then.

Turn off the light and let "the force" (or whatever floats your boat) guide you.

You can start with just closing your eyes and count the seconds.

The best way to not fall asleep though ;)
