FOXCONN - 10 reported dead in riot

Our sources indicated that one of the security guards hit a Foxconn worker and this made even more of the workers angry and they started to beat up the security guard and others who tried to stop the fighting. Eventually as the Foxconn hired security was overwhelmed rather quickly, they called for backup. They have said it is a dispute between “workers” that started between 10-11pm on September 23rd. However it rapidly escalated from there.


Maybe it was that simple. I still think it smells of something more.

I read that the workers were all promised a raise over a year ago and it never came through.

These sites have installed anti-jump nets all around their facilities because of problems with workers jumping out of windows and committing suicide.

With the new chinese sperm extraction machine they should be able to breed replacements within about 4 years. LOL not!!!

Have you seen a pic of the"dorm"that the workers sleep in? High fences on the roofs,net stretched all around the building to catch workers that jump trying to kill themselves. Basically slave labor but who cares. They pay the price for big profits.

According to an exec speaking on the news,the only reason the Chinese have these jobs is because there are no unions or EPA to deal with. Corporations can't make huge profits if they can't pay slave wages and destroy the environment.

By reading the foxconn event. What if shit took turns. Like the Americans here bitch about jobs and with the USA down the shitter. We start working for china not only for wages, but to pay off our debt as well as a nation.

Something about that FoxConn tells me the chinese won't put up with it for long.

The Chinese governments are the ones that set the rates and make the deals with the companies who set up there. Their own government is selling them out.

It's tragic that they work for so little pay and miserable conditions when the ipads sell for so much. I hope they do protest for better conditions. My heart goes out to all those who died needlessly.

I thought that most folks on this site think that unions are the down fall of America and back the evil lazy Democrats.

79,000 people work at that plant. That is about the population of the town I live in.

the unions are good. If you were a teacher you would understand about unions.

This is probably the only career that uses them as having a lawyer on your side.

Go talk to a teacher who pays union dues and has almost lost their job but the unions stepped up and intervened and saved their job

or got them a good financial settlement of $$$

Unions got you an 8 hour working day, vacation days and vacation time off as well as OSIA regulations

as well as workmans comp

so, if you cut your arm off at work , you can see a workman's comp doctor and get a cash settlement
