wow that sucks OP surely its got to have a fault?

I'm with BT and have been for years.
I figure that as they are responsible for the telephone cabling and the exchange, if there is a fault it is completely their problem.
I have also heard that their linesmen prioritise BT customers if there is a fault.

no fault, it's always up and down. Who knows tomorrow I may be lucky and get 2mb.

my next door neighbour who is on the same line but with bt gets a constant 6mb.

If the speed is fluctuating drmatically day to day this could indicate a possible line fault.

I've heard all the 'possible line fault' spiel before, it was always constant with tiscali before talktalk took over, neighbours on the sameline (different isp) always have constant speeds.

We will soon see if it's a line fault when I switch to BT and I will report back here.


ps are you really from talktalk customer care? I find it hard to believe you would come on this site??

Talk Talk are consistently one of the worst internet providers in the UK.

I know their prices are a bit steep, but if you speak to the nice people at disconnections, tell them you are thinking of changing provider, they almost always give you a discount.

I'm now on my 3rd year of a 33% discount on Option 3 (Unlimited)

go to the router diagnostics and show the stats, see if there are any crc faults/errors

should give you a clue to what is wrong.

open a ticket and ask for a profile change !


ask for a 50/50 connection,


for £15,31 you get 8mb but really is just
780kb/s download and 43kb/s upload

fiber will be completed in 2014 in all areas that talk talk provides

why does Romania have faster broadband than us ???????

in Poland and Russia provide 100mb Sweden getting close to 1gbit
