lack of activity = they need to run around & play

HFCS being in almost everything = check labels

I'll also add there are better ways of hiding veggies to get them into kids. For instance add butternut squash puree to spaghetti sauce. The kids will never know it's in there. Or offer pickles, lettuce, onion & tomato to put on plain hamburgers. For fruit offer fresh choices like stawberries, watermelon, & bananas one day and apples, oranges & pears the next. Give them some choices they'll pick ones they'll eat. Instead of breaded chicken nuggets offer grilled chicken nuggets, trust me they'll still eat them minus the fat breading.

While I don't agree that it is the government's job to tell us what our kids should eat.... Those school menues are filled with total garbage food.. Greasy ass french fries and pizza.. Kids don't need to be eating that shit on a daily basis... They will regret it when they become fat asses... again not the governments job to regulate what food they eat.. but a smaller healthier menue? Who can complain about that? Pack a damn lunch if you aren't satisfied with what is being served to your kid...

No shit! I pay 2.60 per day for lunch for my son at his school..he has complained that it is not enough and comes home hungry. I just thought maybe it was due to his playing football and all the working out and practice, but now I wonder..BTW he is not fat..very fit and thin.

At my sons Jr. High (450 kids) they have have over 200 kids bring their own lunch daily

Vegetables alone are not brain food and hearty enough fuel for an athlete. And yes, I WOULD pack my kid's lunch. It's ridiculous.

My kids' school is doing the same thing. They have 3 choices of "entrees", and then sides. These were today's options:
Entree 1: Bean Burrito, Entree 2: Ham, turkey, and cheese sandwich, and Entree 3: Baja salad. The sides are: dinner roll, pinto beans, baby carrots, and apple slices.

To me, this isn't a meal, but a light lunch. While it may be healthy, this doesn't even fill up my skinny kids so I hate to know how hungry the other kids are. The lunches are $2.20 a day, for elementary, plus I have to pack snacks for them to eat as well. Not to mention, I also have to buy after school snacks, because they are so hungry when they get home.

I have started packing my kids their own lunches, that are just as healthy, and they no longer try to eat everything in the house when they get home from school!

Her kids have pizza on their school menu today. I kid you not.

That should actually be enough for a K-6 kid, but not for a high school athlete.
