You're just early..

China is 80 years behind the US in Carrier development. Even we had to start with the Langley.

They have to learn about Carrier Ops the hard way, and learn how much it actually costs, in both gold, and lives.

There's no reason for China to have that thing if they cannot land a plane on it.. That's BS.

I'm guessing they are going to use it to assist Iran.

I'm not saying it's a threat to us, but they could use it for a single operation very effectively if they're willing to possibly destroy it.

I'm thinking the US is nervous because of the reaction. Not nervous that they're going to have planes in the ocean, but nervous that they may be doing something else with it. Chinese ingenuity of some sort.

In October of 2006, the Kommersant online newspaper in Moscow announced a deal between Russia and China where the Russians would sell up to 50 Su-33 fighters to China for $2.5 billion. Details seemed to indicate that China will spend $100 million to buy two Su-33 fighters from Komsomolsk-on-Amur Production Association for evaluation, with delivery of those two in 2007. There appeared to be an option for 12 more Su-33 fighters, with the potential for another 36 SU-33s. In that event, the deal would have totaled the $2.5 billion. The SU-33 fighter is the navalized version of the SU-27 fighter that China has purchased in large numbers from the Russians and now license builds themselves. It is the same fighter that the Russians use on their carrier, the Kuznetsov, which is the older sister ship to the ex-Varyag now turned Liao Ning.

But the deals for large numbers of SU-33 fell through and the Chinese designed their own variant from their licensed built J11 (SU-27) Aircraft and called it the J-15. In addition, during those years, the Chinese were negotiating with the Russians regarding the KA-31 helicopter, which is the helicopter the Russians use on their carrier for AEW duties. The Chinese have also introduced designs for prop-driven AEW aircraft of their own similar to the United States E-2 Hawkeye aircraft. The efforts by the PLAN to obtain navalized, carrier fighters and AEW aircraft from Russia (or design their own), coupled with the installation of a non-skid surface on the flight deck of the carrier, and its painting in official PLAN colors, made it abudnantly clear that this vessel would be China's first fully operational aircraft carrier, which she ultimately became when commissioned in September of 2012.

Than why haven't they landed one on it? Because they're using it for something else - that's my point.. Maybe they CAN land on it, but they've claimed they haven't, and everyone is claiming they have no planes capable.. hence the purpose to discuss.

Several years ago Shanghai banned bicycles inside its' city limits. At the same time in urban Amerika, bicycling and bicycle sharing is being highly promoted as so desirable for health, individual carbon footprint guilt and conservation of land.

If they hate China, then why wouldn't Aljazeera mention "these idiots cannot land on it"..?

Not having the capability is, in my opinion, relating to the fact that they aren't capable, regardless of if they have the equipment or not.

Why would China claim to have only done dry runs and made no carrier landings?? Think..

They don't need Planes, That Can tote a hell of a Army.

The Chinese is very methodical. The reason why there was no plane on it to be seen taking off or landing is consistent with their cautious approach. From the Chinese stand point, possessing an air craft carrier but not arousing too much attention is like having the perfect world.
From my source, this is simply buying time for their new air craft carrier to be build (at least two of them are spotted being built in Shanghai during my last trip.)

This is perfect for people like you to believe they don't have the capability to have any plane to land on the aircraft carrier. Don't we have learned enough from 1) J20, we said they need another 20 years to develop something like that. 2) MIRV nuclear war head 3) The navy Chinese shield and vertical missiles launchers. 4) The kinetic head to head satellite killer. 5) The Chinese GPS system. All these came from no where..... and fool us to losing time or focus. If we continue with these attitudes, God bless America. China is known to be able to hide their abilities and America is known to be bragging. These are the cultural differences differ these two countries.
