Re: Any of you old school computer gurus remember SubZero?
It was SubZero. And you could also bring up a black box on their screen and type to them. You could also access their files. It was a fun one to just mess with friends/family. Could have been used for more sinister purposes, I suppose, but most I knew used it as a joke.

My neighbor, who remains anonymous, works for a ISP provider as a programmer/engineer, I have witnessed, upon call up for RSA authentication, the ability to log right into hub sites, and watch whatever stream of data that he chose, from his living room. Information about the machine used, the account, and the exact output on the customers screen at any time.

i remember when i was a kid about 10?, my cousin recieved a computer for christmas i think it was like 1990. anyway there was this program on the computer he could access anything on his house with it like changing the channels and stuff.

there was also another part, i remember we got into the towns electricity grid or something and timed it to turn off the lights in one of my school teachers home, i have no idea if that worked but thinking back it must have been some kind of super computer i remember it even had a tower.

SubSeven was a little advanced for me even (i was 12)

I am just baffled at the ability some people have with the simple tool of a computer at their disposal.

Re: Any of you old school computer gurus remember SubZero?
ya, sub7. it was a trojan. i never messed with that one. netbus was always my trojan of choice. people always seem to freak the fuck out when a window pops up on their screen that they can't close lol....especially when there's someone typing in it.

netbus + a good port scanner = tons of fun

OP, you FAIL.

Truly "Old School" = before internet.

When hacking required you to actually dial your modem into the phone line connected to the computer system you were trying to hack. I was hacking when my elementary school had only one computer, an 8086 with a 256 baud modem.

That's not true. I used to send it to family members via e-mail telling them it was a funny video. Then would tell them I wasn't sure why it didn't work. Then, a couple of days later, I'd mess with them. haha

Re: Any of you old school computer gurus remember SubZero?
you know what i remember?!

being on napstar chatting with someone for a while. then looking into their list of songs. downloading one. opening netstat i believe it was to see what IP i was connected to and then PING them untill they lost their connection.
then they would go offline and come back again later only to tell me their internet had quit on them

lol

the good old days indeed!

remember ICQ? if you were in a chat you could see the other person typing.
now you have to press ENTER when your done and want to send something. there you had an open connection so if someone would type something wrong and then hit backspace to correct it, you could see that. lol and the typewriter sounds!
