(4) Unfortunately, most businesses have job descriptions and degree requirements for every position, so if you want to go the corporate route you'll have to play the corporate game.

My comment is from my life experiences, not yours. I have watched dozens of qualified but non-degreed people get cut off from even interviewing because they lacked the right degrees.

I would say those are companies that haven't been burned by dopes with a piece of paper yet. The ones that have now include a clause about education OR REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE. something most dopes with a piece of paper are sorely lacking in.
