Of course not. But back in ancient times, that's how they referred to the earth. Even in the Bible, it is referred to as "the four corners of the earth".

(Think: map).

Re: The "G" in Freemasonry stands for this...
The 4 Corners are the 4 Elements of: Fire, Air, Water and Earth.

That is the Perfect Square.

These 4 Elements are further reduced to the Alchemical Trinity.

Where Fire and Air stand for Sulfur, the Soul.

Water for Mercury, the Spirit.

And Salt for Earth, the Body.

Interesting. I think you're right.

That's what's interesting about studying this: One symbol leads to others, which lead to others, and on and on.

It's the journey, not the destination. Along the way, you will "know thyself".

Even if long ago there were certain adepts (be their high priests in Egypt, astrologers in Babylon, shaman in more tribal societies) who knew the earth was round, their audience, to whom they directed their writings, was the "great, unwashed masses" who knew nothing of celestial mechanics.

Remember, we are talking the language of esoterica and symbolism, handed down to us from the Greeks and Romans, who themselves were inheritors of this wisdom from still more ancient cultures in Egypt, Babylon, and elsewhere.

Don't think too literally.

yes Comte St Germaine.
i would propose that even freemason/rosicrucian history has been bastardized so you only have the view some with agendas would want you to have. They did it with the bible, and with a lot more of our history for a reason.

look harder.I could post a wanky youtube vid to explain what i know in a few small sentences, it makes all the research easier when someones done it for you.The vid however is not how ive come to this line of thinking personally, but it is a useful tool to show others.

Unfortunately people want quick google(if they use google lol)search answers...they dont look as we were intended to look...between the lines.

I've also read some say the compass is actually a divider. (a maritime navigational tool)

Some say original humans were hermaphrodites and that the genetic manipulators split our species into the two halves, the male and female. And that we are a conquered species. They also talk of the alchemical wedding which is the re-emerging of the two halves to become whole again.

Maybe they worship this "God" because it promised them one day that they would be reunited with their other half. But maybe this god actually has no intention of doing this and so they basically have Stockholm Syndrome.

I speculate.

The "G" stands for Galamoth. Everybody knows this.

He is the reptilian overlord of Castlevania 10,000 years from now in the future. They have their work cut out for them...

Fortunately, I can foil it all, any time I please.

The Masonic calendar is designated A.L. (Anno Lucis) = "Year of Light". To obtain this date, add 4,000 years to our current calendar year. So 2012 would be 6012 A.L.

The question then becomes: Why do Masons add 4,000 years to the current calendar, and why is that time known as the "Year of Light". :)

It's interesting you mention Pope Gregory VIII. He was Pope for only 57 days in late 1187, before dying from a fever.

You say there's a calendar that bears his name. The interesting thing about that is, barely 60 years prior to him being Pope, the Knights Templar (who were answered only to the Pope) set up shop on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and excavated underneath it for a decade. I wonder if what they found down there has anything to do with Pope Gregory VIII's calendar.

Maybe we are the stone, and the alien manipulators are the philosophers.

So take that compass that many believe is what it is, and make it a divider. What is your interpretation of that image when a divider is used?
