Magicians wear top hats. The Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge wears a top hat. Incidentally, the Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge represents the sun... the Great Light in the East. He sits upon a high-backed chair on a platform raised 3 steps up. Three steps -- the 3 Degrees of the Blue Lodge in Freemasonry -- Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft, Master Mason.

Ever wonder about the significance of a magician pulling a RABBIT out of his top hat? Could it be symbolic of the "rabbit hole" one must go down (ala "Alice in Wonderland") in order to attain the esoteric wisdom running in the currents of the Underground Stream?

The fairy tales and nursery rhymes that have come down through the ages, weren't preserved by accident. There are pearls to be harvested in them. Sadly, most of the pearls are tossed before swine, as the saying goes.
Apollo astronauts couldn't have passed through Van Allen's Belt. Van Allen wore suspenders.

Re: The "G" in Freemasonry stands for this...
According to Master Mason Albert Pike the G stands for Geparaith.

Which is Hebrew for Sulfur.

Not the common yellow Sulfur.

But a Philosophical and Alchemical Sulfur.

It is one of the 3 primal trinity.

Of Salt Mercury and Sulfur.

The three components of the Stone.

The Stone is made from a Body, a Spirit and a Soul.

Masons have chosen Sulfur to be their Symbol because it represents them the best.

Because Sulfur is so hidden. So Veiled...

The body of salt is easy to see.

It is what gives the stone a fixed nature in our realm.

The Mercurial Spirit less easy to spot, but still tangible to us. It is the life that animates. Their very energy.

The Soul and our Sulfur However has no measure. It fills no cup and it not felt in the air.

It is so well hidden that many deny its existence...

This symbol is a Representation of the Alchemical Trinity.

The Triangle and Compass are the Salt and Mercury.

And in the Center is the Square.

The Sulfur is the Seed of the Stone.

It is the perfect ashlar that the masons are seeking. Through their Great Work.

The Head Cornerstone.

Re: The "G" in Freemasonry stands for this...
This is what the "G" symbol in Freemasonry stands for...

Notice first, that it's always a capital "G". The reason for this is, because the capital "G" contains both the arc (made by the compasses) and the the right angle (made by the square) -- the heavenly and earthly, respectively, architect's designs, made by the Freemason's working tools.

It's the combination of the heavenly and earthly in one symbol -- "G". Just as the number 7 is said to be the "perfect" number. That's because 3 is the number of heaven (think: the Trinity...which pre-dates Christianity), and 4 is the number of earth (the "four corners of the earth").

So simple, yet so complex.

G
 Quoting: Thor's Hamster

Regarding the number 7 being "perfect" because it is the sum of the "holy" number 3 and the earthly number 4...

Further evidence for this theory is that the symbol for our number 3 is, like the arc in the capital "G", rounded, denoting it was made by the compasses of TGAOTU), and thus "holy" (heavenly. Think: Trinity, but pre-dating Christianity).

The symbol for the number 4 has, like the right angle in the capital "G", a right angle, denoting it was made by the square, and thus "earthly" on our physical plane ("the four corners of the earth" -- symbolically speaking).

The 4 Corners are the 4 Elements of: Fire, Air, Water and Earth.

That is the Perfect Square.

These 4 Elements are further reduced to the Alchemical Trinity.

Where Fire and Air stand for Sulfur, the Soul.

Water for Mercury, the Spirit.

And Salt for Earth, the Body.

Of course not. But back in ancient times, that's how they referred to the earth. Even in the Bible, it is referred to as "the four corners of the earth".

(Think: map).
