The digital comunications concept and first intranet were developed by the U.S. military. An internet was also first concieved by the U.S. military for international preparedness during the cold war. The tech was handed to the citizens about thirty years after its inception and im sure the military establishment has wished it could take it back ever since.

Re: Brazil judge orders arrest of Google president
A Brazilian judge ordered the arrest of the head of Google's operations in Brazil for failure to remove YouTube videos that attacked a mayoral candidate, which runs counter to the South American nation's strict pre-vote electoral laws.

Google said in a Tuesday statement that it rejected the decision by Judge Flavio Peren of Mato Grosso do Sul state, which also included an order to remove the two videos in question and a statewide, 24-hour suspension of Google and You Tube.

Police said they had not received an order to arrest Fabio Jose Silva Coelho. It was not clear if any suspension of Google's services occurred in Mato Grosso do Sul state. After hours calls to the court were not returned.

"Google is appealing the decision that ordered the removal of the YouTube video because, in being a platform, Google is not responsible for the content posted on its site," the company said in an emailed statement from Sao Paulo.

A spokesman said the company would not make any further statement on the case.

But it is so fast to remove anything under the very generous copyright violation umbrella...

Right, because it is so much more important to remove a video montage of a bunch of high schoolers using the "Born this way" soundtrack than....anything else.

Since corporations are now people, how long before Google runs for president?
“We must keep the people busy with political antagonisms."
“We’ll therefore speed up the question of reform (of tarrifs within) the Democratic Party; and we’ll put the spotlight on the question of protection …(for) the Republican Party."

“By dividing the electorate this way, we’ll be able to have them spend their energies at struggling amongst themselves, on questions that, for us, have no importance whatsoever." - United State Bankers magazine, 1892.

Here in Brazil, big corporations are NOT above the law.

The rule of the law here is valid even for big international corporations.

We arrested the executives of Chrevon for violating the law, and now the executive of Google.

You can't disobbey the order of a court of law in Brazil just because you are a big multinational corporation.

Google has to obbey Brazilian laws if it wants to operate here.

Google is right in this situation. It shouldn't be forced to remove videos when a fucking corrupt politician asks to. Fuck this judge, and fuck Brazil politicians.

Fuck you.

We have laws that regulate the electoral process.

If a court of law rules that the video is violating the law, and must be removed, Google has to remove it.

If Google thinks the video shouldn't be removed, Google should follow the due process: temporarily removing the video, while appealing to a higher court, asking for authorization to repost the video.

It can't simply disobbey a court order.
