RAF Typhoon's up over Lincolnshire this evening...
Hearing 1 or 2 RAF Typhoon's in the skies above Lincolnshire. Nothing unusual in that of itself as we have quite a few based here and they are regularly up and easily identifiable by their trademark rumbling. However, it's unusual to hear them at 10.30pm though, been hearing them for the last 10 minutes or so now.

Something going off.

Military jets are flying overhead here too, never ever flown over this area in the 25 years I have been here, distant hum of choppers over the coast too.

All quiet now. Maybe night training or a nighttime exercise of some sort, or Russians testing our airspace again, or an untowards radar blip.

Not all that uncommon to hear Tornadoes here, on the Notts / Lincs border, don't hear Typhoons too often though. I didn't hear anything tonight though.

I live under a fighter practice zone and they have been practicing for months, but just in the last day or two they have been quiet. Scottish Borders.

Where is "here"? Oops, sorry, just noticed you answered that above.

Night flying can be a normal part of flying training as well as for operational needs. Or, it could just be they have gone up to intercept the Russians coming in on one of their probing flights, as they do occasionally. goaway
