In my mind, the Red Cross has been a farce long before Obama, while the Salvation Army has always been there when people needed their help. One of my favorites, too. I've also wondered about Bill Clinton & George Bush's joint appeal for aid to Haiti. Don't remember if they were asking for the money to go to the Red Cross or somewhere else. Anyway, my donations go to the Salvation Army because I am confident the dollars will be spent on the stated purpose. I've heard of so many cases of money never getting to the intended party. Not just with the govt, but pretty much across the board. It's disheartening when you see people giving what they can to help, yet some unintentional person/entity are the ones to benefit. Greed is so ugly. Although we used to donate to larger organizations/causes our trust has been permanently damaged. Now, we keep everything local. Usually within our county lines.
