Re: Bath salts put me in rehab. Ask me a question.
OP, please tell us about your hallucinations and the effects that had on you at the time and now afterwards.

What have you learned about yourself and the world around you as a result?

I'm recovering as well.. alcoholic. 4 yrs sobriety. interested in hearing your tale. Some of us are not going to know which questions to ask. Just tell us everything.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19574086

Through rehab...and keep in mind I don't swallow everything I was "taught" there, I learned that my drug abuse is progressive. That's the natural course. Only in the case of drug addicts, it continues to progress even when not using. If, for instance, I were not to pick up again for 20 years...but made the choice to pick up again after that period of time, I would be using in that binge as if I'd been using the entire 20 years.

Well, yes, that's true for all of us that are recovering.. addict or alcoholic (the "dis-ease" is the same).

I had experience with rehab my first round trying to get sober when I was a teenager, but was unable to because I had to face more consequences first... numerous arrests, harming myself and many other people around me, ending up in jail, black eyes, bloody, beaten up, and that's not even the beginning of it. Not to mention when I drank I liked to do other things to sober me back up so I could drink more.

I wanted to die but just didn't have the balls to pull the trigger for real, so I was essentially walking death.

It is vital, and this is a suggestion only, that if you do intend to stay sober (i'm sure they told you in rehab), but this is from my experience to you: you must have ONE, at least ONE, single, other person that you are completely and fully honest with on a regular, daily basis... Sponsor is the term used, but I prefer not to use that kind of language any more, but that is ME.

This will be and I'm sure already has been a life-changing event for you and it will go a long way. I don't know just to what degree you can hear me at this point in time, but if you do hear what I'm saying, just hear this: You were chosen to have these experiences so that you could connect with your Higher Power, whatever you have chosen to call yours. I call mine God.

It is a calling and this is ALL of our lives' missions.. just some of us, through much pain and suffering (and abuse of substances and our bodies, along with guilt of harming those around us) tends to take us there MUCH, MUCH faster than others.

You are very blessed to have gotten any consequences from your actions and that it took you to where you are. Just keep it up.

You did mention earlier in the thread, other-worldly experiences, if you answered this already and I missed it-my apologies... I have had many miracles happen in my life that are undeniable.. was just curious if you "saw" anything in one of those warped out states you were in.

Peace be with you. Best of luck on your journey.

good job OP, much luck to you.

I'm still amazed at how many people don't know what these things are, or, why they are called what they are called. You know, when they first started making them, I was half tempted to try them, they were called white doves or something like that (when you got in).. had a few other names too.. I quickly got a glimpse of my future and decided against it, I thank the lord for that...

The whole bath salt thing that stupid people can't wrap their head around (SMH)....It'd be like saying I was addicted to baking soda, IF, that baking soda was synthetic analogues of potent stimulants that the cooks making it SAID was baking soda...

"I don't have 12K. I'm paying off the 12K at a high rate of interest. Monthly.." Yes you are very confused and still hallucinating that these people are going to save you.

They are going to prescribe things that will make your salt trip look like a cake walk through romper-room.. if they haven't already they will introduce the idea that you now have a permanent chemical imbalance that only they can help you manage.

Time to man up.. else get back to drewling in your soup. You did a stupid thing, I get it. What I don't get is your lack of testosterone, lemme guess breastfed till you were 20.?

Your response is much appreciated. I do have a sponsor, but I very much dislike the 12-step programs. Everyone works a different program, I've found. Mine includes staying clean, but disliking many aspects of the traditional routes.

Can you please be more specific in terms of "saw?" I'd be happy to expand on it if you gave more details of what you're looking for.

The story of how I got involved with bath salts to begin with is very interesting. I was unaware of their danger, even being the experienced drug user that I was. I saw them marketed and on forums as being a legal alternative to cocaine with no adverse consequences and I innocently bought into it. The rest is history.

I have been out of rehab for a long period of time now. I was never prescribed anything in rehab other than some detox drugs, and I do not take any medications, nor did I take any after leaving rehab. I was actually breast-fed until I was 23.

 Quoting: Recovering salt addict 22164646

12-step is what got me sober and I'm very grateful for it... that's not to say that one cannot grow independently of the program. Just in your early sobriety it is essential to do all that "house-cleaning" the steps help you do. Your 4th step is important. For long-term sobriety, you certainly should not pass that up. It is how I, and others, have learned what our downfalls are... our weaknesses. How we have wronged others and more importantly, wronged ourselves.

Once you know these things clearly and have set them on paper and told them to another person, you can never not know them again. You will know them forever... because the real way to grow (that most of us do not do) is to learn from our experiences. You will learn not to repeat the same behavior. You learn how to be honest with yourself.

I wholly agree with your statement that many people work different programs. Alcohol was what brought me to my demise (and also my awakening), so that was my main emphasis.. and even in sobriety I tried to use other things still, but just could not and feel "right" about it. You will figure these things out for yourself, just don't ignore your internal self and you'll be fine.

All kinds of other shit happens to that I could write pages on.

As for the hallucination question-- I guess I thought you were implying you had visuals of something quite unusual and I was wondering what these were to you. I know from others in recovery, not sleeping for days and surely make you see some weird things. Was curious what these were for you or if it was just paranoia, etc. That's about as specific as I can get. Just asking you to elaborate on "other worldly hallucinations."

Thanks for sharing your story.

Another interesting thing about the chemical makeup of the specific salt that put me in rehab.....there were 5 people in treatment with me that were on the exact same salt. Each one of us were administered the same drug test upon entry. I tested positive for methamphetamine and benzos. A girl tested positive for PCP. A guy tested positive for nothing. Another guy tested positive for cocaine. Another girl tested positive for meth and coke.

All of us were buying the same round of bath salts from the same manufacturer from the same head shop. Conspiracy makes you think that some scientist somewhere was purposely tweaking this stuff to make it harder to ban by introducing something in the concoction that confused drug tests. I don't know...

Just do what ya gotta do to be okay. I ended up just getting tired of taking anything anymore (not illicit), and stopped it all (the paxil one kinda sucked).. Just never wanted to be someone dependent on big pharma, or underground pharma. Unless it comes from nature, I don't want it, even if it would help, I'll just work on it on my own..

No, a federal ban now makes it much more difficult to obtain. They may find a way around it, but for now, short of ordering the required chemicals online, you can't find it.

Rock n roll to that. I do crave other drugs from time to time, as is the case with anyone who has a history of substance abuse. But bath salts are not one of them. They're fucking evil.

I know about them, are you sure you're not a zombie now?

They were originally marketed as bath salts as a way to bypass any legal restrictions on their sale.

No actually, they were actually meant to put in your bath and not meant for human consumption.
The fact you retards decided to get high off them, like dipshits who huff spray paint, is irrelevant.

Um... No, actually; you need to pull your head out of your ass and get educated on said subject before making yourself look like a fool.

They were originally marketed as bath salts as a way to bypass any legal restrictions on their sale.

No actually, they were actually meant to put in your bath and not meant for human consumption.

yeah but methylenedioxypyrovalerone makes for really soft feet. That's why they developed it in a basement in Albania..

Re: Bath salts put me in rehab. Ask me a question.
So how are you coping now? If it hasn't already been asked.

I had a lil' amphetamine problemo probably at a similar age, I used sport to keep myself clean.

Do you like physical stuff? Surfing?

How's your mind? All clogged up? Can you study anything that interests you?

Good luck with it all.

Yea, I'm a heavy mountain biker...daily. Mind unclogged as far as aftereffects of chemicals. I still, however, have occasional tremors in my hands. I eat about 90 percent raw and live healthy. I do have inescapable memories of depravity and hallucinations on that shit. Those will stay forever and serve as a valid reminder of how not to live life.

If you've not tried it yet i can highly recommend riding a fully rigid 26er ( you can pick up good light old ones cheap as ) and sticking some good platform pedals on.

FUlly rigid, flat pedal riding is something else.

I run a old Marin which i bought cromoly rigid surly forks for, (as it came with suspension forks yuck) and I alos run a singlespeed redline monocog for when I'm feeling particularly fit and aggressive.

Re: Bath salts put me in rehab. Ask me a question.

 Quoting: Recovering salt addict 22164646

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19574086

Ahh, I see where you're coming from now. These "other worldly" hallucinations I referred to are more of the spiritual nature. Between fellow drug addicts, auditory and visual hallucinations, especially on stimulants and through sleep deprivation, are fairly predictable and understandable. I could expand on them, but there's no need. The spiritual nature of the hallucinations I'm referring to were more in line with another dimension....a feeling through a sense that I, prior to bath salts, was unaware of. This was a feeling of being cut off from anything good. This was not a low and hell-like abyss...it was much more than that. I've always envisioned, for instance, that even in the most horrid of human circumstances, a feeling of hope or good can still be grasped. If good cannot be grasped, then hope is still there. Let's say that if you were about to be gassed in a concentration camp, and knew that was about to happen....even in that complete state of horror, some level of hope would be attainable. In that moment of suffering, you would at least have death to look forward to as a means of escape. In my bath salt delusions, I felt cut off from any God, presence of God, or presence of good. I was consumed with pure and soul stealing evil. I know not if there is a second life, as does nobody. But I do know that I experienced hell, quite literally, in that I was exiled from good, hope and the potential for both during my delusions. I have experienced hell and while my body doesn't show it, my soul feels very old. I'm only 29. Does that help?

awesome, I have an old Marin rigid too, the bike always just felt like it fit like a glove, it's an oldy, from the early 90's or so, the thing is rock solid and TIGHT, and was more maneuverable than most any other FS bike I rode, thing just felt right from the first day, and It's hard finding that feeling again....

kinda like driving an old sportscar or something...

Love that bike!!
