So why can't the police officer fire a shot into the air and scare the dogs away?

Why do I get the feeling the people were too busy flushing dope or spraying air freshener to answer the door and control the dogs properly?

My goodness, if I heard a cop knock on my "OPEN" door with his baton and yelling police 2 times i would already be at the door before my heart could beat 3 times.

Idiot dog owners were the fault here.

Certainly not the cops fault, he has his own family to think about getting home to at the end of the day and not becoming a dog chew treat.

You should NEVER discharge a firearm up into the air, it can go for great distances and still hit some human and kill them.

Depending on circumstances the police can be sued, and have been, for shooting dogs.
