Europeans were not able to take over North America because of superior weaponry or technology. In fact they were kind of stupid in their first attempts to survive here. If weaponry would have been the deciding factor then India would not have their culture, Asia would not be so completely Asian and other areas would instead be just like North America is now just an extension of Europe.

What allowed white people to get a foothold was their habits over centuries similar to Asia and India dwelling in close proximity to multiple species of animals. Their cows, sheep and chickens lived downstairs, their mice pooped on them all night from their rickety roofs, their dogs slept somewhere in the middle.

They brought the various pandemics from this upon themselves many times over history and built up immunities to all these viral mixes. When entering the New World the North Americans with their distinctive cultures did not engage in close animal sleeping and did not have multiple pandemics from viral mixing already under their belt.

The multiple diseases suddenly brought to an unexposed population extincted most of the villages within a couple years. Before the Europeans set foot in many regions the people there had already disappeared from the pandemics. They had no one to fight. Then they cluelessly walked about exclaiming how the land seemed so pleasantly cleared of underbrush and ready for their crops duhh the land there was cared for and prepared for generations for crops from the extinct village right next to it.

So the chest thumping is unwarranted. Instead think of how much richer Earth would be if just like Asia and many other regions North America had preserved it's unique culture and lifestyles.
