Quoting: mtn_mang i had a root canal and two crowns put on, one crown on a tooth that had a previous RC, 2 weeks ago and it cost nearly $3000 dentistry is the only profession I know where you can sit in a chair for 30 minutes and rack up an astronomical bill. highway robbery in it's truest form. cause what can you do? have your uncle to the work at home? My ex-wife had thousands of dollars in dental work...so far at 38, I have no fillings and perfect teeth...all three of my kids 12,16, and 19 have perfect teeth also...glad they got my genes :) Nutrition and poor genetics is 99% of the reason people suffer tooth decay...oral hygiene is good but only a small percentage of the issue... you nailed it, brief. bad genes. i am anal about keeping my teeth clean and flossed and have had tons of trouble with them, while my neighbor brushes his 3 times a week and has never had a cavity. that bastard, haha |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 22377032 09/27/2012 05:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Coincidence? I just got back from having a root canal and a temporary crown put on. My appt was at noon, and they finished by 1:30. Not too bad of an experience, no pain, just a bit of lock jaw for having to leave your mouth open for so long :) I go back in a week to follow up to make sure the root canal went smoothly. As of now, it feels pretty good. Crazy how I refreshed the front page once I got home and ran across your thread. Coincidence? I think not. Maybe more like the law of attraction? |

(12 years) Just take 4 Advil about 1/2 hour before the procedure. It will help minimize the pain after. Also when you get home you can roll up a wet tea bag and gently bit down on it where the extraction site is. Dr. will verify this for you. It will help with the healing and sooth any discomfort. Just do your best to relax. I'm sure you will do just fine. Last Edited by LittleMissDictator on 09/28/2012 01:14 AM |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 24352834 09/28/2012 01:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I got my permanent crown placed today. I had a tooth that a filling kept falling out, I was in zero pain though, of so the dentist suggested a crown to prevent the tooth from cracking. Every time they drill on a tooth it weakens it. He wasn't sure if he would have to do a root canal or not when I went in for the first appointment. There was a little decay since the filling had been loose before it fell out and he told me he wouldnt know if I needed a root canal or not until he drilled out all the cavity. Had the cavity been so deep it was into the nerve canal I would have needed a root canal. Thankfully it wasn't that deep so he just prepped me for the crown after cleaning out the cavity. I was given oral sedation along with nitrous oxide and novicane and I remember nothing from the procedure or even the ride home (I had to have a driver.) I highly recommend oral sedation. |
