I am a professional coward who bleeds very easily.

If someone hits me I bleed all over my attacker's so he has to face a fate worth than me re-arranging his face.

He has to face - his mother, wife or girlfriend wit blood stained clothing.

Try getting blood out of clothing and you will realise what troubles than person now has...

Re: GLP, who here can actually FIGHT?
Aside from normal job I am employed by a largescale logging company. 25 to 30 hours a week dragging 500 lb chains up hills and climbing/cutting.

I weigh 178, 6 1.

last fight was some drunk asshole outside of a bar I was walking by.

Southpaw, all the way.

I Don't mind getting hit.
Better than getting shot for sure.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24527929

But usually I don't fight unless I'm protecting somebody or if I am being attacked.

Basically if it comes down to me fighting, I'm going to try as hard as I can to hurt you, as much as I can.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24527929

I would love to have you as a student. Teaching a martial art can be challenging enough, but when the newbies show up & are as fit as a baked potato with double butter it can be really discouraging.

Someone in your shape will likely advance quickly & becoming very good.
 Quoting: Lady Jane Smith

I'd love to do it. Always looking for a challenge and was actually thinking about competition fighting recently.

I have black belts in Shotokan and BJJ and have trained for 25 years. Here are three important lessons I learned:

1. There is always someone tougher than me.
2. It is hard to tell how tough someone is by looking at them.
3. Weapons negate decades of unarmed training instantly.

Kenpo Karate for close quarters and my own style of Knife throwing. Ya wouldn't want to be within 8 ft of me and have me in a life or death situation. Like a blender going off. I practice meditation and Chi to keep everything in check.
I come in peace with empty hands.

Ha Ha...thanks, neither had I, so I decided to invent my own style. Everyone stand in a fixed position and throws from a fixed distance. I tried all styles and decided they were all flawed. I wanted to be able to hit a moving target, as in food or a would be attacker. If you watch the videos closely, I always practice targeting the first knife thrown. I try and hit it as it lands or shortly thereafter. I was going to open up a school but decided against it, too many gang members might learn it and we the people would be in more danger. I sincerely believe every man and woman should be able to defend their house and family by any means necessary. When copper bullets run out and nothing left but but steel, I say throw it!

Re: GLP, who here can actually FIGHT?
When I was young I got into a few fights. I never wanted to hurt anybody, so mostly I would just grab them in a headlock and pound their head into a concrete wall till they gave up. If I let them go and they came back swinging I would pound their head harder the next time.

Then some guys tried to frame me for a crime that would put me away for decades. I knew that in prison, I would be hopelessly outnumbered by another culture, so I pulled a gun on the interrogators. It worked.

I left that place and went to the Canadian wilderness to live. One day I was practising Tai Chi, when a black bear walked right by me. I knew that all the martial arts in the world would not help me against this opponent had he challenged me.

Being able to fight is only half the battle. Knowing when to grab a weapon and how to psych your opponent is crucial.

I once knew a geologist hottie, that everyone called "Fluffy" behind her back. She stood her ground against a charging barren land grizzly, by holding a flag above her head to look larger. Today she is a mining company President.

I think it's time to get a consensus of just what kind of men we have here.

Have you ever knocked anybody out?

What's the hardest you've ever been hit and stood standing?

have you practiced any sort of fighting discipline and if so how much success have you had with it.

thanks

Interesting egotistical thread for those that choose to respond...but I'll bite. I was into golden gloves from early youth to late teens. Student in tai chi and chow ling chang in my early 20's. I was the guy that others came to in order to beat down the bullies. Never lost a fight in my life. I fear no man regardless of size. As they say its not the size of the man in the fight but the size of fight in the man.

I hit like a girl.

If you hit back, I'll cry and run tell on you.

I actually had something similiar happen to me in club 2 weeks ago. some drunk asshole slams into me with his girl and I pushed them off, next thing you know this idiot punches me right in the mouth. His face immediately turned to an expression of terror when i didn't flinch and proceeded to send him flying 5ft into two other people who went flying along with him. I start raising my fists yelling at him to get up when I feel this HUGE arm go around my throat, thinking one of his friends was trying to jump me I immediately powered out of the chokehold only to see it was a bouncer. We wrestled for a few mins with me getting the better of him and walking out on my own. I'll be dammed if some mofo hauls me out in a chokehold.

maybe, you'd be surprised at what a POWERFUL battle cry can achieve, I have seen cops get quiet around me when I lose it.

When people try to get super loud is when im most inclined to hit them. Not back away. ill call that screaming bluff every time.

And yup fuck that everyone is packing heat these days. most people cant punch hard to save their life. But they got heat. That being said you do have to be careful. Youll notice a world of difference between someone who know show to throw a punch and someone who doesnt. Im big and i could break someones face. I dont wanna be hit by another person like myself. For any reason.

That being said if shit hits the fan ima try to be peacekeeper but ill certainly be able to hold my own if need be.

Re: GLP, who here can actually FIGHT?
Hey OP, nice thread. It's about time someone assessed our people to see if we are ready against an unknown threat.
People know that SHTF and all anyone can think of is buying food and guns. Beyond that I think most people are defenseless. When the bullets run out and say you are defending your self against 3-4 attackers who want your stocked up food or anything of value for their own survival, your gonna have to have more than a gun to survive. Like another person said, the adrenaline will paralyze you. For me I enjoy the extra rush of energy. Yes, you shake, but that's when the real stuff happens if you can learn to use it. If someone was breaking into your house, I doubt they are going to be alone. Your adrenaline would be rushing so bad, even if you had a loaded gun, most people couldn't hit a person standing in front of them because they would be shaking so bad. If you somehow run out of ammo, drop your gun or something, then you better have a backup defense. Gun is first line of defense, cold steel is second, hand to hand last. I'm going down with my Ka-Bar NextGen in hand...all the way! As many of em as I can take out. I always fight as if I am outnumbered. Next

trained muay thai with a world champion for many years, Brazilian jiu jitsu with Royler Gracie bb for many years.
ive fought professional mma. certainly not afraid to throw down
 Quoting: tatmark1

Whoah!! You trained with Gracie?!?! yoda

Brazilian is fantastic! It's not fancy, but very effective.

I boxed for a long time, played rugby (Brazilian jujitsu is like rugby without the ball!!) used to street fight (not many girls in my part of town, had to do something)

BUT!!! my last fight was fucking HORRIBLE!!

I was fighting a guy, all the old moves came back to me, I started giving it to him with the left hand & then my fingers started turning FUCKING PURPLE!!! I thought: "this aint good!!"

Turns out, my arm went into spasm, (like a really bad cramp) & the spasm worked its way to the sloppiest joint, the shoulder. My own muscles pulled the head of my humerus out or joint & it went BEHIND my scapula in what's called a posterior dislocation.

It was like I was fighting fucking Darth Vader!! One minute I was doing great, the next thing.......

I was an origami student for 30 years and after that I started the van-golly bonnet vent society club basically its fighting with cucumbers.

There was a punk on a train who tried to take me from behind (not in the bot) but tried to choke me, I pulled a massive cucumber out my pants and thwaked him over the head.

Re: GLP, who here can actually FIGHT?
Martial arts have been the most humbling experience of my life. I am 50 years old and have trained for 25 years. I have had my butt handed to me in just about every way known to man. I have been hurt more in class than I probably would ever be hurt in the street - 5 broken fingers, broken nose 3 times, broken toes, separated shoulder, strained neck, bruises beyond counting, ringworm, black eyes, fat lips, ect...

No matter how much you train, there are guys out there that are scary good. The UFC fighter, Babalu, trains with us occasionally. He has done so-so as a professional fighter. My point is that he is soooo incredibly good that he destroys me (and most of us) like we are 3 year old girls. It is so lopsided it is not even funny. All that from someone who is not a top contender.

The most valuable thing I have learned is that I am not the toughest guy on the planet. Knowing your limitations is half the battle.
