Re: GLP, who here can actually FIGHT?
I've been in more fights than I can count on one hand, mainly boxing fights.

I have only knocked out one person, but I've hit people so hard they stumble.

I haven't been knocked out(knocking on wood), but just recently I got into it with some dudes from another hood, about 15 to 18guys and my supposed 2 friends ran off, so I ended up fighting their og, and the dude was like 6'7 and I'm 5'8, so basically he got me with a suckerpunch that didn't knock me but I got a black eye, at the end of the day, I didn't run I run because I was scared I was just outnumbered 15 to 1 so I don't consider that a lost fight.

But till this day I have won all my fights except for when I got jumped, but even when being jumped I don't consider that a loss because I fought on my own.

I'll give you one tip when fighting overgrown assholes.
The trick is to make them beat themselves, make them miss and counterpunch to the point it insults their ego and they come after you even harder. THAT's when you air them out with body shots, they are actually easier to fight than people your own size.

I think it's time to get a consensus of just what kind of men we have here.

Have you ever knocked anybody out?

What's the hardest you've ever been hit and stood standing?

have you practiced any sort of fighting discipline and if so how much success have you had with it.

thanks

Been knocked out, knocked opponents out. Continued fighting with broken hands, cracked wrist & cracked fibula. You do not feel the pain till it is over.

With that said ... ring fighting skills are good, but there is a reason more advanced martial artists move from the ring into weapons, Ho Sin Sool & Hapkido techniques.

It is good to be fast but it is equally important to be able to fight close Q and develop good grappling techniques.

It is also good to learn to identify readily available weapons that most untrained peeps only see as a common, harmless item just laying about.

GLP has some very well trained male & female fighters, as well as seasoned vets. Sadly, also no shortage of keyboard warriors -- must admit though, a keyboard could be deadly if properly utilized ;o)

Edit:
Sitting here with a cracked ankle at the moment, cracked it during kicking drills -- you know the old force/velocity/mass thingy got me. 1 more week & I am back in business!!!

Male attackers expect the groin strike. Inflict pain elsewhere first as a distraction, then nail the groin. Also, some guys do not react to the groin strike for several seconds -- a lot can happen in 3 seconds.

OBTW, I am married. Husband trained with Navy Seals and holds a 2nd degree in TKD. We train with each other all the time; he works with me on handling a much larger attacker, I help him to watch for knee/ankle sweeps and lower abdominal/groin attacks.

One of the most valuable lessons for a fighter is to lose one or two and take a few good hits. It's why boxing is good..you actually take a beating. Once you've taken an ass wooping, the fear goes away and you can focus on a confrontation. Inexperienced fighters turn to jello from the adrenaline rush. Full contact sparing is crucial to succesful street fighting.

Necessary to remember that it takes twice as much energy to strike & miss vs. strike & hit. Also, on 5lbs PSI to give a concussion to most opponents, 30lbs PSI to bust a pelvis if the strike is well placed.

5lbs PSI is nothing, 30lbs should be delivered easily by a trained fighter (kick for a woman -- palm strike for a man).

Pick a style and commit to it. Train hard at the Dojo and train extra at home. It doesn't happen overnight.

Get in the ring with someone and let them beat on you. You have to be familiar with taking a hit and be able to instantly respond without being stunned.

Some people are natural fighters. Some will never be good fighters. It comes from inside. And size does not matter. Some of the toughest bastards I've gone up against were small in stature.

It truely is the size of the fight in the dog. Not the size of the dog in the fight.

True size is not always meaningful -- although it can help.

Was sparring a new guy in the dojang a few months back. Former Marine about 6"4". He is a 2nd degree, me a 3rd. He underestimated my size, I did a jump kick head shot & made him dizzy for a few minutes(no concussion, thank God).

He is a great guy & learned that we all have soft noggins that day.

Okay, the first thing I do is ignore belligerent idiots.

2nd, if they start it, is end the fight with the least number of strikes necessary.

How to do it?

You MUST be trained. It is not just about knowing how to dish it out but knowing how to take a blow, distribute the force & recover immediately.

You cannot learn this from just reading or watching videos.

I have been training for 20 years formally. Since a little girl informally(Daddy's instruction).

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16069571

In a real street fight, when the realization happens that you must actually square off with someone, the body releases massive amounts of adrenaline. If you are unprepared for it it can make you shaky and weak. It's why training is so important. You train your subconscious mind to react. You train your muscles to respond.

Some fights I don't even remember. Next thing I knew is I'd see my attacker lying on the ground or curled over holding hands full of blood near his face. And i didn't remember a thing. It's all from the adrenaline. Many professional boxers do not remember their bouts.

Re: GLP, who here can actually FIGHT?
basically if you're not built for punishment then focus on agility and speed, most guys on the street are in piss poor shape and will tire out within 2 mins.

Full contact sparing is crucial to succesful street fighting.

so adrenaline makes you weak? please explain

Many professional boxers do not remember their bouts.

yeah that used to happen to me as a kid, although the only thing that would flood into my mind was images of my father mercilessly beating the crap out of me.
