Thank you for the 5 stars!

I said screw it and gave them my name to sign that petition. It was quick and easy. This is too important to ignore and say "doom tard"

I have suggested a pin, but, can I use karma points to pin this myself, if the mods do not do this?

Also, I have a suggestion:

The thread title is only directed to Louisiana citizens. Can this be altered to invite everyone to sign the petition? I do not believe that you must be a resident of Louisiana for your signature to count.

Sorry that I did not search GLP for the thread that was posted on this.

I just think this needs attention for the people in Bayou Corne and Louisiana to get answers because this is so scary.

Its not about being an alarmist about something that "might" not happen (because the GLP effect just has that effect on things like this posted here), but because the state and local officials were a disservice to the people of Bayou Corne by failing to send at least one public service representative to answer their call.

Can I ask a question?.

If yes, please continue reading.

Why would we sign a petition asking for the federal government to step in?. Do any of you remember how the federal government handled hurricane Andrew?, Hurricane Katrina, the current drought?....

My neighbor works for FEMA under a subcontractor, he regularly states that they will never be able to properly close Katrina damage due to bureaucracy of triplicate paperwork, lost files, false claims, incompetence, employee turnover, bad consulting firms.

.....the Feds can't even manage the post office, and you want them to handle a sinkhole and gas release?

Color me jaded, but I'd rather have anyone else step in.

I would sign if I could be obviously cant. Your petition is a great idea but it can't stop the coming disaster. It can't. Move out of the area. My dad now retired worked in the industry for years. He was a specialist for problems. He's a total brain. Worked all over Canada and the middle east. He says that whole area is a ticking time bomb. They don't have the Technology to fix this. Its way beyond the norms. The ground is collasping all around the area. The gas is travelling where it finds least resistance and can move HUNDREDS OF MILES underground. The pressure of all the gas is too great. Its shattering the ground and causing seismic anomolies. He says he is surprised they haven't began to evacuate people from the area. There is a big gas field there and the whole thing could potentially go up and rip the US a new asshole. It would incompass 200 square miles or more. It would change the whole East Coast forever. I trust what my dad had to say on the topic. Some of my family members are snowbirds and go to Yuma every winter. NONE are going this year. Dad told everybody to stay at home. He says this is bad. Really Bad. He says its a ticking time bomb and that its not IF it will go up its WHEN. God bless and get the hell out of there.

It would serve as some comfort to the people of Bayou Corne.

If I lived there I want answers too, and the next time I voted those public officials who didn't show would have been held accountable at the ballot box.

I think you are both missing the point.

First of all, the petition is not OP's...he has graciously posted this thread, so as many people as possible will be able to sign the petition on behalf of Louisiana residents in danger.

The point of the petition is to force the government to address this situation in a proper manner, as the residents in the area are not being given proper information, and are largely being ignored.

Meanwhile, as the petition circulates, there is a greater propensity for this issue to get discussed to a much wider audience.

What's happening in Louisiana may seem like a local issue, but, drilling and fracking and all sorts of assaults on our environment are happening every day, ALL OVER THIS COUNTRY, putting the lives of people in danger.

As there is no precedent for handling such a debacle, forcing the government's hand to do a proper, wide-range study, can be a benefit for the handling of future disasters.

So....sign the petition. What harm can it do?

Please. Who knows when something similar will be approaching your own backdoor?

cool2

Hey Redpaw360!
Great take on this one, Redpaw! I totally 200% AGREE
WITH WHAT YOU ARE SAYING HERE. It is a sham and a NO-
BRAINER for anyone who has watched the U.S. government
in action since KATRINA to think that there is some

total fuck-up by the INDEPENDENT STATES OF OIL (ISO)....
This industry is IT'S OWN SOVERIGN GOVERNMENT....IT IS
NOT UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF ANY WORLD GOVERNMENT, let alone
the flakey jakes as the top of the U.S. government.

What part of BANKRUPT don't you guys get, here?
THERE WAS NO MONEY TO HELP THE PEOPLE DURING KATRINA....
THERE IS EVEN LESS MONEY NOW IN 2012 TO DO ANYTHING
OTHER THAN OFFER A "PHOTO-OP" FOR OBAMA AND ROMNEY

THIS DISASTER WAS PREDICTABLE BACK IN THE DAY THAT THEY
PUT THEIR FIRST DRILL BIT INTO THE GULF. NOBODY STOPPED\
THEM THEN....WHO WAS THE BOSS OVER THAT SHARADE? ROOSEVELT?

If any of you out in GLP LAND have an UNCLE WHO WORKS
IN THE UNITED NATIONS....MAYBE...JUST MAYBE there would
be a world-wide overseeing entity involved in dealing with
this. If the Gulf of Mexico is compromised--if the

Great summary, which reminds me of a folk tale.

Once there lived a mouse in a farmers house. The farmer's wife knowing of the rodent places a mouse trap to catch him.

The mouse learning of the trap was distraught and went to the chickens saying "the farmer put a mouse trap in the house."

The chickens responded "It is of no concern to us," so the mouse went to the pig saying "the farmer put a mouse trap in the house."

The pig looked at the mouse and said "Why should I care? It's your problem."

So the mouse went to the cow and repeated his message "the farmer put a mouse trap in the house."

The cow just mooed and said "I cannot do anything about that. You must take care of it yourself."

So the mouse went back saddened that no one cared about the danger it had to live with.

One evening, the wife hears the trap snap, and thinking the mouse was finally caught went downstairs into the kitchen. She suddenly feels a sharp burning in her ankle and falls. The farmer comes to her, turns the light on to find a deadly snake was caught in the trap. After dispatching the snake the farmer tries to nurse his wife back to health.

He starts with the chickens to make soup for her each day till they were gone.

The wife's condition worsens, so the doctor is called. To pay the doctor the pig is sent to the butcher to slaughter for its meat.

But to no avail the wife passes away, and the farmer holds a wake serving beef to the grieving guests.

Morale of the story: What affects the least of us affects all of us.

Presumably they'd just take the petition down just short of the 25,000th vote, just like they did with the TSA petition.
