Anonymous Coward User ID: 1018748 United States 09/27/2012 06:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | dude....that was a drilling mistake into a SALT MINE which flooded, not a salt dome collapse Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24281256 It collapsed ya moran. A whole fucking lake went somewhere. Tard - the dome filled up with WATER, sort of like popping a hole in your bath tub... water migrates from tub to floor... Anyways, the salt dome in question, the one you imply, if it collapses will release literally tons of methane which can trigger a massive explosion. So big difference bewteen a failed mine and a failed gas filled salt dome... |

Bore drilling into a salt dome, and back filling with water, is a little different than blowing via vented methane... |

That cavern was not that far from all these problems. That whole area is full of cracks and caverns where the gas is spreading into them. My dad a drilling engineer for 40 years says that whole area is a ticking time bomb. Thats its just a matter of time till it either goes up or down or both. He made us promise not to go to Yuma this winter. Doesn't want us anywhere near all the problems this thing is going to cause. That whole area is starting to collaspe already. There is alot of pressure building up. The sinkhole is also located over a very big gas field and on The New Madrid. There is nothing that can be done. They don't have the technology to prevent anything. Anything could set it off. Earthquakes. Lightening. The drilling rig. A careless person. If you live within 200 miles in either direction of that thing get out of there. God Bless and stay safe. |
