CAMPBELL'S Closing Oldest Soup Plant In Country, Axing 700 Jobs...Another Co. Leaving California..
My Uncle worked for Campbell's for over 35 years. Another employer to leave California.....

The company says the Sacramento plant, built in 1947, is the oldest in its network and has the highest production costs on a per-case basis. “For over 65 years, the Campbell’s plant has been a major employer in our region,”

The announcement comes just two days after Comcast announced it will close all three of its call centers in Northern California, including one is Sacramento, because of the high cost of doing business in the Golden State.

I live in Sacramento. This is a crushing blow to a lot of people...the factory is not that far from downtown and in a low rent area. All the local businesses that have just barely been holding on will close down when Campbell's closes down, having a horrible ripple effect.

Can't believe Campbell's did this, they must be doing well in this "broke" economy, I'm sure lots of people are serving a can of soup over a plate of rice for dinner tonight. They can't possibly be paying a mortgage on the property and I highly doubt they will be able to sell it so why not just keep it running?? All the soup ingredients are grown right here in the central valley so shipping costs are low.

I just don't get it, it's really a tragic move for all those families and the surrounding businesses.

P.S. The California State Legislature and Governor are a bunch of disfunctional bozos. They have managed to create a business climate that hates business.

I heard on the radio this morning that Comcast is laying off 700 in CA, and moving their offices to WA, OR, and some other state. Another victim of CA taxes. Have been here for 55 yrs, and I would like to get out of here while we can still sell our house. Gov. Moonbeam has all sorts of taxes and restrictions for us, also.

Agreed...

"California continues to head in the wrong direction as its tax policies will drive more businesses and people to relocate in other states. State politicians feel business and commerce are 'necessary evils' that provide the funds to enable pursuit of their misguided agendas."

"California government is difficult to work with and very bureaucratic. Taxes and regulation are high and unruly."

"California is the worst! They are doing everything possible to drive a business out of their state. If the environment in CA was not so good, they would have lost half of their population."

"California should become set aside and not included in commerce with the rest of country. They have become impossible to deal with and proposed regulations will further distance them from rest of country."

"California's taxes and ongoing changes for regulations are devastating. One never knows from even day to day what new interpretation of an existing regulation or new regulation will befall you and your small business."

Wait until the news breaks that Campbell's is opening a new factory in Orange, Texas. Trust me on this.

What did you expect? You people keep voting in people who think the way to induce prosperity is by taxing the fuck out if the producers/workers/moneymakers. After 20 fucking years of company after company leaving California for lower-tax states, you mean to tell me you still can't figure this out?

I have No. Fucking. Sympathy. You fuckers, by virtue of YOUR vote, allowed this to happen. And what is worse is that every company that closes down or leaves tells California the same thing: "The state of California is not business friendly".

Would it be better to cut business taxes by 25 percent, and get 75 cents I stead of a dollar, or to lose that tax revenue entirely, and get ZERO?

Again....No. Fucking. Sympathy.

That's a funny typo right there. LOL

I agree about businesses leaving California. I ran a business in CA vack in the 90's and the BS rules and regs nearly drove me nuts. Plus the constant worry about lawsuits.

Along with terrible government, California has more lawyers per capita than any other state. You can't swing a dead cat in CA without being sued for something.
