If only your economy was as free as when Campbell had been starting up it would be natural. Unfortunately the USA of today is fascist state as far as its economy is concerned. This is Mussolini's model. The property is formally private, but concentrated in big companies that get their directives from the government...

I live in Sacramento. This is a crushing blow to a lot of people...the factory is not that far from downtown and in a low rent area. All the local businesses that have just barely been holding on will close down when Campbell's closes down, having a horrible ripple effect.

Can't believe Campbell's did this, they must be doing well in this "broke" economy, I'm sure lots of people are serving a can of soup over a plate of rice for dinner tonight. They can't possibly be paying a mortgage on the property and I highly doubt they will be able to sell it so why not just keep it running?? All the soup ingredients are grown right here in the central valley so shipping costs are low.

I just don't get it, it's really a tragic move for all those families and the surrounding businesses.

P.S. The California State Legislature and Governor are a bunch of disfunctional bozos. They have managed to create a business climate that hates business.

Better food has put them out of business as people learn. Also SoCal is a bad place to do business. Too much immigration.

not a big loss Cambels was known for for being deceptive in their products! Packaging as much as Garbage and msg and doing all they can do to not have to labell it. Such as 50% less salt! and Contain sea salt!. 0% transfat. etc.

I heard on the radio this morning that Comcast is laying off 700 in CA, and moving their offices to WA, OR, and some other state. Another victim of CA taxes. Have been here for 55 yrs, and I would like to get out of here while we can still sell our house. Gov. Moonbeam has all sorts of taxes and restrictions for us, also.

This should be a study lesson here. Liberal run states always seem to fail. All those taxes go to sustain the parasites.

This has no impact on Israel so it doesn't matter.

Would it be better to cut business taxes by 25 percent, and get 75 cents I stead of a dollar, or to lose that tax revenue entirely, and get ZERO?

I agree about businesses leaving California. I ran a business in CA vack in the 90's and the BS rules and regs nearly drove me nuts. Plus the constant worry about lawsuits.

Along with terrible government, California has more lawyers per capita than any other state. You can't swing a dead cat in CA without being sued for something.

The cost of doing business in Cali is too high. Our company is shutting down three call centers in that state. It has to do with the health care laws.

Campbells is leaving California because California is going down and I just don't mean economically. I mean going whoooosh. The writing is on the wall.

Quit buying their crap years ago when they 'added' CANOLA to their recipes. As far as I am concerned they can burn in China.

Don't let them drain your state as they flock to Texas. You'll start to see more democrats mayors & governors, in a blink of an eye you'll have massive taxes & your state goes broke. California all over again.
