Bio Printer: Print Your Organs in 3D
1,5 minute video below

What if organs can be printed? With the advances in bioengineering this might be possible. A new tissue engineering technology now has the ability to arrange culture cells in three dimensions.

It is now possible to manufacture tissue in demand. In the future, we might be able to manufacture entire organs using as the patient's cells as blueprint, thus avoiding problems with immune rejection. 3D Printers that create human parts and 3D printers in general are driving down costs, soon to be passed into consumer's hands. Now 3D printing organs?

The printer is the result of collaboration between Australian engineering firm Invetech, and Organovo, a regenerative medicine company based in San Diego, California.

Awesome 3D Printing of Orthopaedic Models - Medical Stereolithography
(Hips, Spines, Skull etc can be scanned and replicated in about 5 hours!)
9 minute video

This video shows how ACRM Corp is using innovating 3D printing technology (stereolithography) to produce exact replicas of body parts using CT scans.

This 3D printing replicates the slices of a CT scan and prints orthopaedic models for use in presurgical planning.

Typically, these models are used to plan for scoliosis or kyphosis surgeries, and are quite often used in evaluating craniosynostosis cases. They have also been used in complex maxillofacial surgical procedures.

These custom anatomical models are patient specific and can typically be produced and delivered in less than two days from receipt of the CT scan.

Ultra-High Res 3D Printing Breaks Speed Record
3D printer creates nano racing car in minutes
1,5 minute video below

285 micrometer racecar, 1/4 millimeter doesn't sound that impressive..... until you see the sheer detail in the isometric image at the end! Then, wow!

Printing three dimensional objects with incredibly fine details is now possible using "two-photon lithography".

With this technology, tiny structures on a nanometer scale can be fabricated.

Researchers at the Vienna Univ. of Technology (TU Vienna) have now made a major breakthrough in speeding up this printing technique: The high-precision-3D-printer at TU Vienna is orders of magnitude faster than similar devices (see video). This opens up completely new areas of application, such as in medicine. Source: Vienna Univ. of Technology
