Romney runs down military cuts as Obama promises to create more jobs
It’s the third consecutive day that President Obama and Mitt Romney have been campaigning in the same states. As Obama pledges to create more jobs, Romney slams Obama on defense cuts before an audience of military veterans.
With a mere 40 days left in the final race and less than a week before the first Presidential debate, Obama and Romney campaigned just a few hundred miles apart in Virginia on Thursday. Republican Presidential hopeful, Mitt Romney, focused his speech to the threats America faces from the foreign countries as he accused Obama for cutting the defense spending to a dangerous limit.
Romney said that Obama agreed to the defense cuts in 2011 in order to raise the debt ceiling, calling it a “gun-to-your-head opportunity” that will destroy the jobs in Virginia. "They would make devastating cuts to our military. It's a strange proposal in the first place, even stranger that it's being put in place," Romney said. "The impact will be immediate and significant right here in Virginia: 136,000 jobs will be lost in Virginia as a result of this move."
Romney pointed out that at a time when there are troubles going overseas "the idea of cutting our military is unthinkable and devastating. And when I become president of the United States, we will stop it. I will not cut our commitment to the military," said Romney as he attempted to recover from his trailing polls.
Campaigning in Virginia Beach, Obama said that if he got re-elected he would make sure that a million new manufacturing jobs are created, businesses double their exports and tax break be allowed to companies that invest in the United States rather than taking jobs beyond borders.
"It's time for a new economic patriotism, an economic patriotism rooted in the belief that growing our economy begins with a strong and thriving middle class,” Obama said.

You do not support Barack Obama or Mitt Romney because they are both warmongering statists? Don't believe they're the same.
