A scientist is someone who looks at a reality rooted in the spiritual from a rational logical point of view and is therefore doomed to continue asking how.

142+. But I used it to make a lot of money and help people as well. I'm probably a hell of a lot better off than most of these people here testing themselves repeatedly and wasting their time posting on GLP daily trying to prove their self worth. If you have intelligence, get out there and use it to DO something. Stop pretending you can BE something because you are smart and do something with it. The world is full of people that are smart with intelligent reasons why the are sitting home on their mother's couch. The world has very few people using their intelligence and multitudes who have reasoned out intelligent responses why they can't. Life is short. Who are you going to be...

Stephen hawking...

Although Professor Hawking discounts the value of numerical IQ's, he admitted that his own is likely very high (it has been suggested as 160 or more). He also said that "People who boast about their IQ's are losers".

Re: Anyone Here With a High I.Q.?
Here is my big fat opinion. People that think they have a high IQ and complain that others aren't smart enough or people are soo dumb are the low end high IQ types. Bump the IQ to 180 and voila, smart enough to be humble. I prefer really, really high IQs to those that run over 140 and under 180. Over and under.

Re: Anyone Here With a High I.Q.?
A Breakdown of IQ Scores

Now that you understand these key terms, we can talk a bit more about how we interpret IQ scores. The average score on an IQ test is 100. Sixty-eight percent of IQ scores fall within one standard deviation of the mean. So that means that the majority of people have an IQ score between 85 and 115.

1 to 24 - Profound mental disability
25 to 39 - Severe mental disability
40 to 54 - Moderate mental disability
55 to 69 - Mild mental disability
70 to 84 - Borderline mental disability
85 to 114 - Average intelligence
115 to 129 - Above average; bright
130 to 144 - Moderately gifted
145 to 159 - Highly gifted
160 to 179 - Exceptionally gifted
180 and up - Profoundly gifted
Genius IQ Scores

So what is considered a genius IQ score? Generally, any score over 140 is counted as a high IQ. A score over 160 is considered by many to be a genius IQ score. Scores that are 200 and over are often referred to as "unmeasurable genius."

 Quoting: ^TrInItY^

I did several tests - one when enrolling in the airforce which was quite extensive: 139 (avarage on three different tests)

One for a company: they did not disclose results but said favorable result

And a few on the internet averaging around 141.

A psychologist once told me IQ is a circle, beginning and ending at insanity. She meant low is basically the same as really high.

I´ve done well in life using my brain - highly advanced technical work. I think your table is quite correct but anything above 200 could be considered "questionable stability personalities".

Anyone here tested and confirmed to have a high I.Q.?

If so, what was your score?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24545480

Yes. Thanks for asking. I've done Wechsler and Stanford-Binet tests.

I won't post scores though...
1) If you post a high score, people often think you are lying (The vast majority do exaggerate when claiming high IQ scores)
2) Raw figures aren't a reliable gauge of practical intelligence anyway.

Also a caveat to anyone doing internet-based IQ tests - They invariably give falsely inflated results - In internet tests, I can usually attain scores 20 and 30 points higher than my real tested scores.
 Quoting: Karlos

why would people even care if you are lying if we don't know who the hell you are? I mean, you make good points, I'm not being mean, but seriously...

Also a caveat - have you seen some of those MENSA questions? S-T-U-P-I-D. I would occasionally stop on Wheel of Fortune, and there would be like - ONE letter up and someone would guess this long phrase I'd never heard of - and BAM! That was it! Now you know most of these folks couldn't tell you the years of the American Civil War, or who was President 30 years ago, or probably even do basic division. Turns out MENSA tests are all for the Wheel of Fortune winners. That sums it up to me.

I was at a college reading level by 6th grade. By 17 I subscribed to The Economist, The Atlantic Monthly and Smithsonian. I could tell you exactly how a nuclear power plant worked. I guarantee you, I can't answer those MENSA questions. If most questions are like those, then I will gladly be on of the dumbest people in America.

Re: Anyone Here With a High I.Q.?
An analogy might be that IQ is like horsepower in an auto.

There is a driver (who Freud might say is composed of Ego, Id, and super-ego). The driver determines how hard he pushes on the gas, the brakes, the gear he's in, and which way he turns the wheel. His passengers--family, friends, enemies, hitch-hikers--influence his decisions.

The sights seen, areas explored, distance traveled depend on all the above factors, plus the quality of the fuel put in the tank. And someone needs to occasionally clean the windows and the rearview mirror.

An observer trying to measure the HP would need good tests and a cooperative driver, and a machine in good condition.

In his book, "Between Two Ages," Brzezinski wrote: "The technetronic era involves the gradual appearance of a more controlled society. Such a society would be dominated by an elite, unrestrained by traditional values."
