Catholicism is the original Christianity, they are the reason you have the Bible in its current form, they are the reason Christianity is the most influential religion of the western world and they are the reason the Protestant religions exist.

Here's a thought: Both Christianity and Catholicism are bogus. Ever consider that idea?

I agree but Christianity is not a religion it is a reality.

A religious person barely reads one book, and think that they know it all.

Catholics call their priest father.

Jesus says.
Matthew 23
9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.
They keep relics like the remains of ‘saints’ and worship them.

Jesus said
2 Kings 17:12
They worshiped idols, though the LORD had said, “You shall not do this.”

The Catholics believe that you can receive forgiveness of sin by confusing to a priest and saying the Hail Mary prayer.

It is written
Acts 13:38
38 “Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you

Mary did not die on the cross nor did the pries only Jesus can forgive sin.

Catholics pray to the saints and to Mary
Jesus Said
John 14:6
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Catholic priests rape and molests little children

Jesus said
Mark 10:14

Yet, all Christian denominations use the canon as complied by the Council of Nicaea. It has been recompiled a number of times after that but nonetheless, the canon as compiled by the Council of Nicaea under Constantine s reign is still being used YTD.
 Quoting: Psych

Meaningless. The books of the Bible were accepted and in use before Nicea. The council was only Rome accepting or becoming Christian / Catholic.

-

The Council of Nicaea met in 325 A.D, assembled at the command of the Roman Emperor Constantine, and met to address the heresies of a man whose name was Arius.

The Council of Nicaea did not actually make the original decision about which books were to be part of the Bible. What the councils did do was not so much decide, as agree with what had already been decided and was already in practice in the churches all over the world.

The Roman Catholic Church would have you believe that all local churches and congregations were in chaos having all sorts of books in their churches and considering them as scripture, being deceived until in 325 A.D. the Catholic Church finally gets it right comes in and restores order.

The Catholic Church was not even around, and early Nazarene Christianity was flourishing. It was flourishing so much that in dozens of places in the Roman Empire, Christians were building underground cities called catacombs - in order to survive the persecutions that Satan was inspiring and directing through the Roman Emperors.

Remember at the time of the Council of Nicaea that the Roman Catholic Church Hierarchy did not yet exist. It did not have that little piece of real estate in the Vatican until after 325 A.D. It was after the Council of Nicaea that the Emperor set up the Catholic Church.

But the Roman Emperor Constantine who worshipped the Sun God knew that he was having trouble gaining legitimacy amongst Christians. He craved this and sought out Eusebius to see how to make this happen. Eusebius suggested a council of all of the independent Christian churches within the Roman Empire, and Constantine agreed.

1) the church council did not "decide" the Canon of the Bible, they rather AFFIRMED/CONFIRMED the Canon.

2) the books known as the Apocrypha were not accepted as part of Scripture.

3) the history of the Catholic Church is that the longer she continues, the greater her heresies become. She continues to accumulate untruth as time progresses. The more that the Catholic Church continues in time, the greater her reliance on apocryphal books. It had to be that way, because the 66 books of the regular and true Bible in no way justified the doctrines that the Catholic Church was teaching.

4) for this reason, the Roman Catholic Church has tried to uphold the supposed Canonicity of the Apocrypha. They did not succeed in doing this until the Council of Trent, when they finally came out and said that the books of the Apocrypha would be treated as Holy Scripture itself. That was a departure from the historical books of the Bible, and a departure from history, and a departure from treating the apocryphal books as not being part of the Canon of Scripture. In other words, 1500 years after Jesus died (and rose again), the Roman Catholic Church decided to change which books should be included in the Bible.

actually I have found (especially in colleges), that this is not true, but reversed.

I find Christian people who are REAL and walk the walk, find the more they learn the more they 'don't know' about God, life and they always want to learn more.

I find scientists (in colleges and in the workplace), hardened, they know it all, their way or the highway, don't mix science FACTs with any theories, even though science is still theories and all is not known in science.

Scientists who are athiests are the most hardened, closed minded people I have ever met. They know it all, don't question them.

Good loving kind Christians are pretty humble and know they don't know it all.

that is what I have seen in my 50 some years of life.

My point is that Constantine ordered the Council of Nicaea to compile a canon which was used to a: unify the people of the Roman Empire under the banner of Christianity (even though other religions were allowed) and b: to spread it around like wildfire.

Constantine was the one who put Christianity on the map.

Your post is proving that you put Catholicism before Christ.

Re: Catholicism is not Christianity this is why
Catholicism IS Christianity ....this is why....

The catholic church IS the chosen church. Peter, Jesus' favorite disciple, started the Catholic Church. Jesus told Peter this.........
"And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it," (Matt. 16:18)

Peter was also crucified like Christ but in a mocking way ........upside down. Through him the first church was started. His body remains entombed in St. Peters Basalica in The Vatican.

Throughout the Bible cover to cover Jesus is that rock, not Peter.

Your Church has twisted a few verses to build an empire.

Yes! Jesus is OF COURSE the rock. BUT it was the Catholic Church that Peter built UPON that rock (Jesus). Hence, the Catholic Church is the CHOSEN church. Do you not think Jesus (God) knew what church Peter would start? God (Jesus) knows all......

That one book you read has the names of the authors in each book. It never says written by Jesus.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1018225

Holy Spirit inspired authors.
By the way Bible comes from the word Bblia which means library and a library contains many books.

Stop defending the lie start searching for the truth believe one day you will wish that you have.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24620198

Roald Dahl who was the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory might have been inspired by a chocolate bar. Doesn't mean the chocolate bar was whispering what Roald Dahl should write.

The same applies to being inspired by the notion of a holy spirit. It doesn't mean that God was whispering what the authors should write.

What you write is fiction. The bible is historic fact and eyewitness accounts for the most of it and yes God dit tell them what to write. Stop ignoring the facts for your own sake.
Can we start talking about the points in my original post you digress? Just to confirm God is alive and talking to Christians now the Bible is just a helpful guide and an historical document. Get with the program
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24620198

The existence of the Bible is historic fact, the content for the most part isn't. The Bible is a historical book but not a history book.

Most of my posts in this thread does relate to your OP. You try to differentiate Christianity from Catholicity but you can't. Christianity is generic term which represents thousands of denominations, and Catholicism is one of them.

The most hilarious part of your OP is the statement that Catholic priests rape and molests little children. They don't do that because their denomination allows them to. They do that because they are f***ed in the head, just like many other religious people from other denominations are f***ed in the head.

Those early Christians who knew what it was all about were indoctrinated into the unified church after Constantine.
All of the Christian churches were unified and the official Bible was assembled. It has the same books today as it had then.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1018225

No they were not. The roman catholic church has always persecuted Biblical Christians. When the crusaders took Jerusalem the first time they killed Jews Muslims and Christians alike. The Spanish inquisition was about killing people who owned bibles. Research your church. And remember

Matthew 7:16 By their fruit you will recognize them
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18847658

There were no biblical Christians before the Catholic church. There was no Bible before the Catholic church assembled it. There were few christian religious manuscripts and the original Christians spread the word through word of mouth.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1018225

Untrue again. Where did the counsel of Nicaea get the books if they were so few? You need to pray and read about it.
Also When the crusaders took Jerusalem the first time they killed Jews Muslims and Christians alike. The Spanish inquisition was about killing people who owned bibles.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18847658

You make me laugh, How much peoples do you think owned a bible in those time????? 15, 20 and all scholars.
The first bible edition was 15 book in latin in 1475 and 1,500 books in German in 1483. Before that nobody have one.

And , by the way educate yourself

Like the Amish parson in Ohio teaching his congregations wives how to have orgasms while they live with him and cutting the beard off of any member who refuses to allow their wife to do so.

This link does not contain the testimony heard at the trial for the reason the Parson considered the victims off the path, but it is a good starting point if you are curious.
