It is believed contaminated school lunches are to blame, causing excessive vomiting and diarrhea among young sufferers. UNKNOWN VIRUS well if its not a big deal it means it has yet to be identified.. but what if its identified to be unknown.. that is its not something seen before... could be something more nasty than a normal food contamination case, -just a hunch |

Authorities in Berlin and the surrounding eastern German states reported the new gastroenteritis cases Saturday, while laboratory investigations to determine the exact cause of the outbreak were still under way. Berlin's health department says the sicknesses are moderate and most children recover within two days without requiring to be hospitalized. In Saxony state, at least 16 cases of norovirus, a mostly food- or water-borne illness, were proven, according to German news agency dapd. The government-affiliated Robert Koch Institute said Friday that all facilities where the illness occurred likely received food from a single supplier. |

Alle Kriterien sprächen dafür, so Suckau. Mysteriöse Magen-Darm-Erkrankungswelle: Über 8300 Schüler krank – Noroviren nachgewiesen - weiter lesen auf FOCUS Online: [link to www.focus.de] The gastric enteritis wave of illness covers several states, names above. 4 days after the outbreak 8365 students, kindergardners and a few teachers are vomiting and have diarrhea. Some are calling it an epidemic, namely a health professional in charge of infectious disease health control, according to her all the criteria fit. Even though all who fell ill ate the cafeteria food the search is on for the culprit and the health department still has no idea as to anything specific. It's too early to be able to ID the specific virus, along with norovirus and salmonella the possibility exists of it being a mass poisoning according to health department of Berlin. That's the gist so far. They've set up task forces, the company supplying the food denies any involvement as nothing has specifically pointed at their product. |

I had the misfortune of being struck down with food poisoning. I was ill for three weeks. It could however, be a mutated strain of the norovirus that strikes the UK each Winter. Only this time it has started in the Autumn. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10463447 14 DAYS sh"t that's too long this thing could be every where by then....has the bio war begun Looks like the initial symptoms/reported cases have doubled in a very short period of time, hours. These children appear to be "getting better" fairly quickly, almost too quickly. When pigs fly.. bird flu H5N1, absolutely impossible to have been created and or introduced without human intervention. It was suggested last year, that if this were released into the general population, children & the elderly would be most vulnerable, ingestion would be the most proficient method of infection. A 14 day gestation period, highly contagious, very rapid rate of infection & a kill rate upward of 80%. Makes H5N1 one of the most effective & efficient bio-weapons ever engineered.
