At least you get your benefits and living comfortably. What I'm against is paying workers shit wages and expect them not to complain. The cost of living is going up but not the wages.

Outsourcing ...IMHO should be outlawed! It makes absolutely no (economic) sense to leave a large country jobless and give the jobs to another country who pay their workers pennies per day. 7 days without food and you die so its not a joke.

The only jobs out there hiring right now are govt (public sector) jobs. Unless you are lucky enough to find a niche market out there to become self-employed.

When I was a boy, the minimum wage was $1.25 an hour.

Gasoline was $0.15 a gallon.

You could buy 7 gallons of gasoline for an hour's work.

Today gas is $4.00 a gallon.

You would need a minimum wage of $28.00 an hour to equal my minimum wage in 1965 in purchasing power.

But, no, you people are earning only $7.50 an hour now for minimum wage... maybe, what, $10.00?

There SHOULD be tariffs, instead of all this "freemarket" bullshit.

Until there are tariffs raising wages (as well as loading up the struggling economy with more bullshit regs) will just shove more jobs offshore.

Not sure what I think about tariffs, there are both pros and cons to them.

The problem now is that if we tariff Chinese imports it will be taken as an act of war, and they'll dump our debt at minimum and maybe even go into a hot war in the Pacific. They have us over a barrel, it's economic blackmail.

All this discussion is really pointless, the time for it would have been 30 years ago before things got so out of hand.

You don't get it. If you raise the min wage then prices GO UP and that negates the wage increase. AND benefits??? You have ZERO concept of this on an employer. This TOO gets passed onto the price of goods. Most employers run on a thin profit margin. Take money away from that and there only choice is to close or raise prices. Think with your head and not just with your heart.

The ironic thing is that it's capitalism that turned us into said lard asses, namely pharmaceutical companies capitalizing upon perceived problems that they caused the sheeple to perceive themselves as having, so they pump said sheeple full of drugs. It's the Hegelian Dialectic in full swing.
