Three forceful blows to 'subdue' a man who is already inebriated and in a wheel chair?

First words out the officers mouth was a justification for his actions. 'You don't think people in a wheel chair can't assault people?'

Sure they can, but was that assault and was the officers response or use of force appropriate for the situation and the person he was dealing with?

The officers actions seemed to be a visceral response to something that was plaguing him for years...imo.

Yep, that's the reason why criminal charges are being brought up against him by the justice department itself.

Not to mention the fact that this cop is a complete SCREW-UP. He's had a few too many complaints.

But...to each his own. Maybe one day you'll get lucky and get a bit of that treatment yourself.

Someone should visit this power tripping assbag and pound the living shit out of him. This asshole is the lowest form of life. I have a son in a wheel chair and seeing this shit really really pisses me off. Most cops wouldn't do shit like this but the ones that do should be punished and I don't mean thrown in jail for a couple of years I mean takin out behind the wood shed and have the fucking shit beat out of them till they wished they were dead!

If this goes to trial the cop will be found innocent. If he is fired, he will appeal and be re-hired, with full back pay. Nothing will happen to this cop.

I hope his gun release button sticks, and some gang banger beats his skull in when his sorry ass is back on "duty."

i have to side with the cop on this one. the guy in the wheelchair was slurring his speech and being an asshole. it was a reactionary set of punches. if the (drunk fucker)would have threw the jacket the people would be bitching that the cop should have slapped some since into the stupid fucker. he was already in 2 fights prior that night, he just got what was coming to him. he's lucky that didnt happen with the polizei. they will beat your ass then ask questions.

You need to study use of force continuum (along with thousands of cops who apparently never did either)!

Cops apparently hate people in wheelchairs...they shoot and punch them on a regular basis lately.

i agree with most that it was excessive, the man in the video in the wheel chair has something wrong with his legs the news said. he isn't completely paralyzed, but he can't walk around without a walker and mostly uses his wheel chair.

the part i really hate is when they are bending his arms way back and trying to make him stand to go to the wheel chair and his legs look all weak.

Boo fucking hoo. He hit a cop in the face. He should be going to prison -- that's a felony.

This is a "Hater" thread... So much so, that I'll refrain from a complete response.

The fact of the matter is, A person in a wheelchair can effectively take out many peace officers.

I see a potential issue with this officer's use of force, but it has NOTHING to do with these facts:

a) The guy was in a wheelchair
b) The officer punched him in the face
C) His comments afterwards

But if I try to explain it any further, most of you wouldn't even get it.

By my "potential issue" comment I mean, I would have a very hard time justifying ALL of his actions in court, as an expert witness. Which is what I do at times.

I think its fine. I didn't see anything wrong here with what the cop did.

Especially when they had a chair in the corner that they could have easily placed him in. But you know? That would be showing too much restraint and common sense.

2 points.

a) the woman begged him to do it, most likely being the officers girl friend wife and love torturing / humiliating people.

b) remember it was the officials with badges and guns that came for the Jewish folks, Christians, gays, gypsies, etc in Germany and it was all legal.

Nobody else seems to notice that the cop was trying to HELP him pull his jacket off (after he had threatened to throw it at the nurse). How would YOU like it if you were trying to help someone do something and he slapped you in the face?
