Native American tribes within the USA are already technically sovereign nations, receiving foreign aid from the U.S. under the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Quoting: Thor's Hamster True, but... That last bit is most important! They not only are receiving aid, but the feds are still largely telling them what to do (as they always have). That "sovereign" status is actually quite LIMITED. It's like a GUISE of sovereignty but isn't ACTUAL sovereignty.
